4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2012

hi me and my family have just got back from sami beach hotel in gumbet the hotel is really good but it has lots of stairs and no lifts overall its really clean and really well kept the staff are really friendly and make you fell welcome the downfall was that most of gumbet is on very steep hills the hotel its self is in a excellent location in the centre of all your night clubs resturants pubs and shops these are all just outside the reception you have a buger king right across the rd also. the hotel is quite noisy though as most of the pubs and night clubs close between 3 in the morning and 6 in the morning they open about 10 at night. the pubs open between 10 in the morning and midday the shops open between 8 in the morning and close about 2 - 3 in the morning .the local bus stops just outside the reception with a regular bus service between gumbet and bodrum the buses are every 5-10mins its 6 lira each which is about £2.50 and kids under 7 travel free of charge you just stick your hand out if you want the bus to stop as there is no bus stops. be careful when crossing the rd though because the road is really busy with buses cars motor bikes taxis vans coming from all directions some drive quit fast and there were a few near misses when we were there. if you are out and about some of the shop workers can be in your face wanting you to buy stuff like converse vans pauls botique d&c g star raw etc all the big labels be wairy if you get asked to buy perfume/aftershave or want 2 buy them like dkny versace channel etc the shop workers show you the genuine ones they will let you spray them on you skin and if you decide to buy them they go in there shops and sell you fake ones. myself and my family had a room right at the pool on the ground floor with our own patio area with a table and 2 chairs. the pool is a good size and there is a kids pool seperate which is just beside the big pool there is plenty of sun loungers around the pool for you 2 use which are free the pools open from 8 in the morning to about 7 half 7 at night they are in the garden area the pools are cleaned everyday at closing time. the garden area is lovely with grass flowers and palm trees the room we were in was a good size with a built in double wardrobe with plenty of space and some hangers and 2 bedside cabinets which have 1 drawer each and space benith for shoes in that a dressing table with 2 drawers a toilet and a shower television which is crap as there is about 7 channels which are in turkish free fridge and free aircon as it is really hot there just now the temprature is between 36 degrees and 51 degrees durin the day and its like around 30 to 46 degrees at night time and in the shade. the maid is in everyday to clean your room and make your beds and give you fresh towels and toliet roll everyday sometimes the maids put your towlels in shapes of swans which we thought were quit cool and put petals on your bed. the bed sheets were not changed the 2 weeks we were there though the beds were just fixed. the hotel has its own family of tortosies (mum dad and baby) which roam around the pool area and the garden area freely you can feed them pet them and hold them as you wish myself and my kids and my mum loved to feed them every day they love tomatoes lol you do get a few stray cats that roam around the hotel especially at the resturant which is a bit of a down fall there is notices around the hotel highlighting the problem with the stray cats they state that you should not feed them or have contact with them as the hotel do,s not accept any responsibilitie from any miss haps with the cats. the gardens are kept nice and tidy everyday with the ground staff, the staff are really friendly some have poor english though some of the staff can be annoyin tryin to get you to buy a turkish bath/massage or a boat trip (see the captain) he,s a laugh everytime he sees a kid he,s like awwwww she/he so gorgous she/he so beautiful she/he my favorite she/he like ice cream she/he like slush puppy. she/he like hotdogs, the staff in the hotel love kids. they have a doctor and a hairdresser on site and a yoga acadamy the hotel has an on site photographer who is there everyday till late at night he go,s about takin pics of everyone passin by at there leisure he asks premission 2 take pics or your kids though which i thought was brill he won,t just take them of your kids,he take your pics during the entertainment 2, you can buy your pics for 10 lira each which is about £3-4 your pics are displayed on a big board nxt to the resturant theres no preasure 2 buy them, you can also book photos with him anytime he will take you a 10 min walk down buy the beach to some more gardens by the beach and you can get pics done there and he do,s pics there at sunset the photos last about 30-45mins i,d recomend getting it the pics are beautiful all you pay for is the photo,s you want theres no other charges unless you want 2 buy a photo album of you pics or a cd or a keyring, the turkish baths are about 75lira and are in the hotel and if you book 1 it is a private bookin (for example if you book a turkish bath, sauna ,foam massage, face mud pack, medical massage etc, its a package thing for you and your friends/family you are the only ones in the baths/massage place with the staff at the time you want it done no 1 else is in there with you) which i thought was good. the waiter,s are all really friendly and speek quit good english they like high fiving you lol they service the beach and the pool area and the resturants some are 2 friendly though for example they try 2 chance there luck with alot of female guests dos,nt matter if you are single married or in a relationship or older or younger than themselfs they like to ask you out for drinks when they finish there shifts most of them are also married or in a relationship themselfs and just want to go out with you to have SEX with them so be wairy. the entertainment is good which is at the back of the hotel you have a male and female belly dancers a fire eating guy who walks on broken glass a guy who has a snake and lizard show a belly dancer with a snake (esmarelda) brazilian dancers a chinease acrobats show a contortionest (rubber boy) tradtional turkish/russian dance show and break dancers and bingo karoke the people that do the show like the guests to partiapate in the shows, the guys that do the break dancing like you 2 tip them so do,s (rubber boys) wee brother and the belly dancers. when the entertainment/shows finish you have dancing with some of the waiter,s/ground staff for example (the macarainer satarday night (wigfield) the kiss kiss song shakira etc and some traditional turkish group dance were everyone do,es some sort of a conga around the bar holding hands which everyone loves the usual holiday dances) bewere the staff like 2 pull you up 4 a dance lol the shows are good but are the same every week there is no entertainment during the day and there is no kids club or animation team which most people with kids there wer,nt pleased about there is a small play area though. the back of the hotel is were the resturants and the bars are at and the entertainment is and its right on the beach with lots of other bars and pubs with entertainmnt and dancing. the hotel has its own private part of the beach with free sunloungers and an ice cream/slush puppy/waffle/milk shake stand there stuff is lovely you can hire a laptop here for 8lira per hour the hotel dos,nt have any sort of internet room to use if you want to use wi fi you need 2 get some sort of code to put in your fone just to let you know it is really expensive to use your fone to make calls and to txt and 2 resive calls txts if you can take an old fone with you that is sim free and buy a sim card there or buy a fone card loads of people sell them some fone cards don,t work in puplic telephones though. we went half board and the food was nice theres a good choise but we found it quit repetitive like the entertainment just to let you know if you are half board you need to bring your own drinks with you at dinner or buy them from the bar the drinks are quit expensive its like 9-10lira for a beer which is about £4 if you want a cocktail a whiskey vodka malibu bacardi etc its between 10-18lira which is about £7 or more. cans of juice ie coke fanta are 5lira which is about £3 you can get the same drinks else where for cheaper its a matter of shopping around like everywhere else loads of places do english breakfast they can be expensive 2. we had a good time there but it can be a bit boaring i would reccomed goin 2 this hotel as the location is perfect and right on the beach and the staff make you feel welcome and have a laugh with you and try there best 2 make your holiday a good 1 the accomodation is ok and kept clean everyday however we did,nt think the reception staff were that helpful they did,nt have a clue half the time don,t know if it was the language barrier they need 2 learn proper english most forenighers speek good english no matter where you go abraod and also the wee tortoises its not everyday you get the chance to feed tortoises hold them and pet them on your very own door step lol

Room Tip: if you can ask for a pool view or a sea view they are really nice the drinks expensive food and ente...

Myself and my boyfriend have just got back from our holiday from gumbet and we stayed at sami beach hotel. (29th june-10th july) on arrival to our hotel it was roughly midnight and when driving through the town it was very noisy and busy and full of bars as myself and my partner normally like quite holidays this was abit of a shock and we didnt really like the area on first impressions and honestly felt like we had made a huge mistake coming here. the rooms were average although we only have 3 lights working in our room and so the room was very dark! The next morning we had a look around and it looked alot better in the day the beach was lovely and so was the pool however if you want a space around the pool or beach you need to put your towels out as early as you can as they are all taken by 9am. on your first couple days of arriving you will have alot of the staff coming up to your trying to make you buy turkish baths boat trips etc. we actually did both and the turkish bath was very nice with a facial foam massage and oil massage at 75tl which is about £26 however as we were new we didnt no you could barter and we noticed another couple only paid 60tl so deffinatly dont pay the price they say first . we also did the boat trip which is booked with captain stephan it was £17.50 and drinks were included all day and also lunch which was lovely you stop of at 5 different bays one of them being camel island were you can go on a camel ride, you leave about 10am and get home about 5.30 int he afternoon. we also did another boat trip but we booked it in the travel shop we only paid £13 which we thought was great until we got on the boatt and to be honest captain stephans boat was much better as there were less people on the boat there was more sun loungers and on the cheaper boat there was to many turkish people and not many holiday makers. so i would deffinatly pay the extra £5! we also went to bodrum market personally myself and my partner hated it as you cant walk without getting hasseld it was just awful i wouldnt go back but if you want to go there its on a tuesday and you get the green bus outside the hotel comes every few minutes and is 3tl. i wanted to swim with the dolphins which was £40 however you only swim with then for 6 minutes which i thought wasnt worth it so we watch a dolphine show instead which was about 45 minutes long and was £15-18 and was very good annd there was sea lions etc however the only downside was is wasnt in english. we got to see people swim with the dolphins and it really is not worth the money at all im glad we decided not to do it after all. we also did a photo shoot on the beach we felt abit silly doing it but some of the pictures come out great and was well worth the memories! the weather was so hot was 40 degrees nearly every day some times hotter! so take your sun cream. food wise breakfast wasnt our cup of tea but was average dinner was enjoyed much more there was always chips for fussy eaters like myself and meats pasta etc.
the hotel had great entertainment however it said it started at 10.30 however it never started until 11ish which was to late for us by that time we were to tired.
overal it was a nice holiday and i would say if you want a standard cheap holiday then go for it!

Stayed in may one week in this hotel, together with my mother of 83. We had a really good time.
The hotel and chambers maybe is a little old, but functional, clean and good beds. Nice, kind staff. Helpfull. Chambers with a small balcony. A little refridgerator and airco in every room.
Beautiful garden.
Next to the beach were beds were available for free. Good swimmingpool, beds for free as well
Breakfast and dinner as a buffet. We liked it! Lots of different salads, meat, chips, rice and turkisch specialities and very tastefull desserts as well. And in the morning, different knds of bread, cereals, cheese, meat, eggs, sometimes pancakes...
Animation until late in the evening, but because of that we took earstops...:-) .
We would recommend this budget hotel for sure and probably we will come back next year
