“The Best Hotel in Turkey”
Reviewed 5 November 2011

Me and my new wife went here on our honeymoon last week of the season October 23-30. the Hotel is very clean and modern our bedding was change every day.The food was 5* not just chicken every day we had lamb, beef, turkey and many different kinds of fish. there was every kind of salad and pasta you could imagine. The Chef would cook you fresh omelets or fried eggs to your liking right in front of you. The sweets were absolutely fabulous, cakes, gateaux s fancy pastries and fruit was plentiful.
English tea ,coffee, hot chocolate, capachinoes soft drinks and beer 24 hours a day in one of the bars and most of the time in the other 5 bars. On three nights we had a meal in the restraunts which felt like going out for a special meal,we had a Turkish meal a chinese meal and an Italian meal all three course meals, very nice!
The views from the roof terrace where the main restaunt was were spectacular with views of the surrounding hills and the two private beaches that belong to the hotel as well as the bay of Bodrum. The hotel was in a nice quiet corner of Bodrum with easy access to the shops and bars with plenty of cafes and restraunts to eat out (but once in the hotel there really is no need to eat out).
This is definitely the only hotel we will ever stay in in Gumbet and hope to go back next year (but not so late in the season) . The only down side is that unless you are in a premier room there is no kettle in your room, so if you like a cuppa before 7.30 take a kettle with you.
The weather wasnt the greatest at this time of the year the temperature was in the early 70s but in early August we were told it was 110 !
Staff were really friendly and helpful . With entertainment team with shows on in the evening and events and clubs for the children. An all round great hotel was a little bit more expensive than other hotels but with 7 bars one of them 24hrs and 2 great restraunts its well worth going all-inclusive.CANT WAIT TO GO BACK !

Room Tip: Go premier (or take a kettle) and ask for a pool view you will get the sun all day.

Hi, I stayed at this hotel at the begining of October, with a freind for one week. As other people have said, the location is perfect, we used to wander off around the bay in the evenings - to see what entertainment was on offer, then come back around 11ish. As the beach bar was 24 hour sevice this was ok.
My only critisism really, being a vegatarian, is that most of the time, for dinner [or tea as we call it where i come from] my only choice was either, cold vegatables ie, salad or luke warm vegatables ie accompanyments to meat eaters meals. Also at the late night snack bar - cheese or meat on offer for sandwiches but only one set of tongues to pick both up!!

Having said this I would probably go back to this hotel but would eat main meals elsewhere.

We found this holiday through our travel agent and we will def be re-visiting in the future. The staff couldn't have been nicer & more helpful. The location was ideal & the nicest all inclusive food we have ever eaten (& I am a fussy eater). Over all the best family holiday we have ever had we know several people who have been on our recommendation & the only negative that they came back with is that it rained mid October!!!

We stayed at the royal asarlik at the beginning of October haveing read all the reviews prior to booking, have to say that the the staff (with the exception of one) were all very good, the only exception was the barma at the main bar in the lobby, every night of 7 night stay the bar ran out of brandy and whisky by about 8.30, this was when the barman got himself in lather because everybody was asking for the brandy and whisky, one night they even ran out of vodka as well, this left raki or gin, when complaints were made to reception and reps nothing was done, unfortunately this spoilt the holiday experience for us, I have never been to an all inclusive hotel (i stay at 2 hotels a year) that has ever run out of the main drinks. plenty of beer on offer though, food was good did not find it repetetive at all, weather was awful for the last 2 or 3 days and the airport was a nightmare, for some reason the reps got us there 3 hours before the flight along with 10 other flights, if you have ever been to bodrum airport you will realise that there was no seating and only standing room, very packed, shopd were a rip off, £4.50 for a small can of coke. Other than the drink and airport it was an enjoyable holiday but one that we would not repeat, would not go to any resort that involves going through bodrum airport. we have been to Lara Beach 4 times over the last 4 years and will almost certainly return next year, the hotels there are genuine 5 star.
As an added comment we had no reply from our complaint to the rep.

Room Tip: go for a pool view room on the upper floors,

We ended up at the Royal Asarlik not through choice - we had originally booked to go to Club Blue Dreams in Torba but the hotelier decided to shut early for the end of season and therefore Thomson moved us to Royal Asarlik. I did read alot of the reviews on Trip Advisor prior to arrival and it did seem to be a great hotel but alot the negative comments made were bang on. We arrived at 4.00am and it was absolutely freezing - we were taken to our 'Superior Family Room' in the old part of the hotel. Don't believe that these are one bedroom apartments as told by the hotel and Thomsons - they are not - they are studios!! You cannot get one or two bedroom apartments anywhere in this hotel!! The following morning we went to see Thomson Rep - Aidan was fantastic when we complained about our room which was not superior in any way and was not one bedroom and was hidden in the 'triffids' at the back facing a brick wall. After pulling out alot of stops Adian managed to get us two rooms next to each other in the main hotel itself both with sea views. They were fantastic in comparison to the one we were originally put in - very clean and if you end up in the corner room it is twice the size of the standard ones. We couldn't thank Adian enough - there was a slight charge for the change but Aidan got the hotel to waiver it so we didn't have to pay any extra due to us being put out in the first place by having our original holiday cancelled.
The hotel was clean and modern with a bright lobby bar, on the doorstep of Gumbet town with lots of shops and bars and restaurants. It would have been good as an all inclusive if all of the bars in hotel had been open but they weren't. The only ones open were Lobby bar, Marine bar (renamed 'Morgue bar') and Relax bar. I don't know whether this was because it was end of season - October- or whether it was just because it was absolutely freezing at night and noone wanted to sit outside. This led to the same problem with the Panorama Restaurant and Bar, It was seriously like a rugby scrum every night if you went early ie 7.00pm for dinner - you couldn't relax as it was like school dinners - in and out as quick as you can - there are not enough seats in the inside restaurant to accommdoate the number of people in the hotel. If the weather was nice at night I couldn't have seen it as a problem but it was really cold. We would go up at 8.00pm instead but it was still busy and the food was luke warm and therefore not very nice. Shame as there was such a great variety. Breakfast was a more relaxed affair as you could sit outside so that was good. Great selection with a fantastic view of the bay. We tried the A La Carte restaraunts - the Turkish was nice - alot of food, the Fish was good but the Chinese (taken in the Morgue bar) was absolutely appalling. They all have set menus but again it does seem to be a rather hurried affair as the waiters then have to go and change shifts when they have got rid of everybody and go and take over in the bar or wherver else. We ate outside of the hotel on two occasions both at the Corner Steakhouse bar directly opposite from the hotel They do huge fillet steaks and 'very hot' aswell, they were delicious.
The beach although small was shingle and a bit difficult to get into the sea for hurting your feet but it was well worth it - you can walk out and there are loads of fish swimming around you can clearly see. There was also a sunken boat and I think what used to be the original sea wall that my husband and son managed to find doing some snorkelling. The water although cold at first was lovely. The main pool was good with music playing all day. They had enterntainment on every night. Fire Shows, Turkish Dancing, Snake Shows, Karaoke.
We also took advantage of the Spa and Wellness centre while we were there. We had Turkish Bath, massage, face maks. The Turkish Bath is fantastic though you do have to pay for certain things - they have packages for things you can book - it is well worth it.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and we did end up in lovely rooms, the weather was hot in the day though cold at night. The staff were great. Shame about the food. I would definitely go to Turkey again but not maybe try a different hotel but then I never go to the same place twice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main pat of the hotel with a sea view thought this cannot be guaranteed.
