“Beautiful location”
Reviewed 5 August 2011

I have recently returned from a weeks holiday with my partner. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Room type: standard
The room was spacious and clean, basic furniture but in good condition. We had a terrace not a balcony it was a little small but to be honest we didn't really spend much time in our room or on our balcony.
Board basis: half board
Breakfast was continental; cheese, cold meat, boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, selection of cereals, yoghurt, selections of jams, selection of bread and sweet bread, fruit, selection of juices, turkish tea and coffee. Sometimes you would get omelette and turkish sausage.
Evening meal had a wide range of salad and mezzes with a choice of hot dishes. The food was turkish but they always had 2 meat options. There was often a BBQ serving fresh fish, chicken or meatballs. The sweets were amazing and very hard to say no to :-/
What did annoy me was when people complained that the food was turkish and why did they not serve sausages and bacon at breakfast, Um hello you are in Turkey!
We did however find the slow service from the waiters a bit frustrating at times.
Location
You couldn't get any closer to the beach if you tried and what a beautiful setting. There were hammocks, swinging chairs, big cushioned areas and sunbeds to choice from to relax on. The pool didn't have any parasols but the over hanging trees provided natural shade. The music can get a little loud at times but generally its okay.
Over all we found the hotel warm and inviting and if we get the opportunity we would love to go back, it was a lovely holiday.

Stayed in this hotel July 2011 having seen other review's from former client,s we probaly should have been forewarned as to noise levels etc. as having stayed in Gumbet two years previosly where also it had loud music playing but nothing to compare to the desible level at hotel Okaliptus particularly as you cannot escape it at any stage either on beach or relaxing area ie. cushion area ,not sure what purpose is of having music as can only imagine it is only driving residences to either eat or drink elsewhere incidently price of small bottle of EFFS is 6TL which is far above any the other bars in vicinity . Room,s were of a poor standard shower was blocked on our arrival , also tiling in shower area appear,s to never have been finished as groting etcseem to be non exising . Balcony ? what balcony it consisted of a two foot strip furnished with two delapated wooden chairs and located at ground level along side main pathway to reception /rooms in full view of other residence,s Food ! as we were only givin the option of full board on booking food in restaurant was poor as previous reviewers have stated consisting of same mix of salads limited choice and reptetion of main course and as for breakfast again more salads cold hard boiled eggs and the most foul tasteing Tea you can only imagine . This hotel tries to portray it self as a top class hotel but it has a long way to go before it is that mabey the management should take heed of it's customer's re views and take on board the loud music issue etc. also the hotel in general is overdue a facelift to room's etc . We travelled in early July to the Okaliptus (a very large group of 6 young women) and had two rooms and two very different experiences of the hotel. Firstly, I will describe my room - a double and single - large room with plenty of space we never felt cramped or on top of each other. When we arrived the room was clean, tidy, comfy and cool thanks to a full working AC which was easy to understand and use. The staff were very friendly, especially the maids who were always smily and didnt even say no when I cheekily asked for a rediculous amount of extra cushions! Unfortunately, this was no the case for our companions - who on the first night (we arrived at 2/3ish?) had to sleep half naked with the patio cracked open in a room with no AC, 2 pillows (for 3) and no sheets on the bed and numerous insects. The next day this was all put right (except for a few crafty insects!) and we were told that there had been confusion with the rooms or something equally blah blah blah.

The hotel itself was everything I wanted - close to the beach but not centred around it, there was a bar and great cushions on the beach for those who prefer a laid-back playing cards in the sun holiday! We had two meals a day included in our deal - the food was good and varied every night (though we did have a running joke that almost everything contained parslay!) highlights being the LUSH lamb kofta and this strange rice dish. The one issue with the Okaliptus was the bar - it was the only extra we had to pay for on the trip- and boy was it overpriced! Sisha (or nargile) for 20TL and very limited flavours that werent very strong. The cocktails were either very weak or very strong and all came at the same price of 20TL - and a milkshake was 15TL worth it if you were getting strawberry but chocolate and vanilla were both bland and a bit tasteless and much thinner. The rule of the hotel is not to let you bring drinks from outside into the bar or cushions (you have to buy their overpriced stuff!) and for the first 5 days the staff were very relaxed and didn't really mind us bring water or sweets from the corner shop next door (the woman in that shop - she is a DOLL!). On our last two days a lot fo the staff was replaced notably by two not very friendly ladies who spoke poorer english than my turkish (I try...) and were often agressive when we sit on the beach cushions without ordering food or drink. But the bar is open all night and all day (24hrs woop woop) and the cusions INSANELY comfortable! But for cheaper drinks, sisha and nicer beach you can turn right and walk along bitez to much cheaper bars and outside gardens (some as cheap as 6TL for cocktails and 10TL for better sisha! Gumbet and Bodrum are readily accessible and fun day trips out.

Okaliptus : Recommended but don't expect the Ritz. Nice family-run hotel in great location. Learn a little bit of turkish and make the locals giggle.

location could not be better literally a stones throw from Bitez beach. Very peaceful and relaxing, This is no high rise resort, the okaliptus is two stories set in well kept gardens, very attractive setting.( perspective counts, I'm in my early sixties) rooms were a good size, balcony views not impressive but who lives on a balcony, one problem here! first room smelt badly of damp, took full week to find alternative room. bathroom and shower were a good standard. Bed was large and comfortable, furniture was basic but OK.I have no idea how to resolve damp problem, possibly no ventilation was the problem.

I enjoy Turkish food, so for my taste the food was good, plenty of mezes at the buffet table. its true that the "hot food" is not hot, that is because the Turkish do not serve food piping hot, not their culture. If you don't enjoy Turkish food don't go to the Okaliptus.

the hotel residents as regard the dining area were a bit second class citizens, true you could go al la carte but we were half board so why pay twice.

drink prices were pretty outrageous, but that was a bit self defeating as few drank in the outside bar e.g. a bottle of frixinet cava 400TL, small bottle beer 6 T.L etc.

having said that we had a lovely holiday and would certainly return. specifying which room.
manager was as helpful as possible with damp problem. a few minor concerns were resolved quite efficiently. staff were friendly, area was well kept.

music played over speakers was dire. though the bar staff would change it when requested. the comfort of the beach area was very comfortable, giant cushions and shade is wanted sun beds for sunning if required were available.

it was my first time staying at this hotel and really found the hotel very clean and tidy,
the staff were very helpful and polite, their English was at a high level.
we felt very safe in the location of the hotel and surrounding bars even late at night.
a very family orientated hotel and the food was lovely too.
