Otel Mithat is a relatively cheap multi-floored hotel (with an old elevator) near the central part of the old city (somewhat difficult to find) and not very far from the Citadel and the Anatolian Museum. The carpeted room was clean with a central light barely adequate for reading, and the Turkish breakfast was fine. The bed was covered with a too hot duvet (a sheet and blanket would have been preferred). The hot water was fine, but the shower in the small bathroom was practically on top of the toilet. A computer was available, but it was not free. Our major concern was that our 4th floor hallway had a door which said FIRE EXIT, but it was locked!!! This made us somewhat nervous. The receptionist didn’t speak much English, and when I tried to ask him about it he couldn’t explain why it was locked.
