“Friendly & nice hotel staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2012

I chose this hotel because of the good reviews and did not regret my decision to stay here!

Plus points:
* My room was upgraded at no extra cost & I was pleasantly surprised because this came without me asking for it!
* The hotel is about 8 - 10 mins walk away from SM Manila, 3 mins away from 7-11, there's a cafe and 24 hr Macdonalds right beside the hotel
* It's within Intramuros which is near the historical buildings, churches, museums, etc
* The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful in things like calling for taxis, giving me directions to the nearest mall, providing me with the adapter for my chargers
* Service at 9 spoons was excellent as well, food was nice
* Rooms were clean
* I had 24 hr wireless internet connection for no extra charge

Not so plus points
* One day, my room was not properly tidied up which left me wondering if the hotel staff left the room in a hurry (the floor towel was missing, and one of the pillows were left on the ledge in front of the bed)
* I wanted to visit the sky deck on my last night, and it drizzled (my bad..should have visited it when i had a chance to earlier)
* The hotel slippers came at an extra cost...

Overall, it was a nice experience and I would recommend this place for those who don't want to splurge on an expensive hotel and yet want to have a good experience to stay at The Bayleaf Intramuros Hotel. :)

Hotel itself is very nice. Pleasant to stay if traveling and would want to see downtown Manila > Rizal Park, Intramuros, Manila Cathedral. But it's near schools and trafficis really horrible with all PUVs in sorroUnding streets.

The staff really do go out of their way to help you, there's a core team of maybe one to three of them who were superbly friendly and informed about Manila. They ensured we got metered taxis (which will save you,on average, about half the inflated cab fare), inquired if they could help with directions, and were very professional.

Positives

-the staff, they truly redeem the complaints I had about the experience there
-the free wifi was very reliable
- within walking distance to the main Intramuros attractions, difficult to get lost

The negatives are

- the hotel, though acceptable in its appearance, is located within a generally seedy vicinity surrounded by dirty puddles
- rough towels, thin blankets, terrible breakfast buffet with an uninspired omelette station
- the area around the hotel becomes pitchblack at night,no streetlights

We liked the location because it was near museums and Churches. The room is clean and bathroom was very spacious. I would like to suggest that being a 4 star boutique hotel guests would expect that slippers are provided at no cost especially because the floors are not carpeted and it's quite cold and eeky walking around the room in barefoot.

This is a boutique hotel that really values customer service, and goes out of the way to make sure that you have a good stay. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and were very ready to offer suggestions and answer all our questions, even though they didn't seem to know too much about the music scene and nightlife.

The prices are much more reasonable compared to other places in Manila (and for less), and room decor is done according to colour themes, so it was cosy despite how modern it was. The 360-degree view from their rooftop bar was amazing.

I would recommend this place to anyone!
