Owner description: This ornate Chinese temple dedicated to the Queen of Heaven, Thean Hou, protectorate of people who make their living from the sea. The temple borrows from Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian traditions. Some visitors believe the panoramic views of KL alone make the trip up the hill worthwhile.

This is a beautiful temple and well worth a visit. I took my children during the Chinese New Year Celebrations and they loved exploring the grounds

“Give yourself TIME here.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2012

I loved this place and was there on a festival day so it was especially interesting. There are great benches to sit in the shade and take in everything, so I was there for almost 3.5 hours - watching, reading, visiting in the temple, journaling some. If you cruise through in 10 minutes you will miss it.

If you are following lonely planet directions - they aren't so good and I actually ended up at the mosque on the "wrong hill" first. Check out the map and use the road signs versus using their directions.

“Great place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

Probably the biggest Chinese temple in the KL area, and one of the best, and worth the trek out there. Located on a hill you have great views over KL and the suburbs, especially if you go up to the top of the pavilions. The temple is to the goddess Mazu or Goddess of the sea. Although there is only one main temple, there are interesting things to see around the complex and in the grounds, including the pond at the back which is packed with turtles and terrapins. The temple has various celebrations throughout the year and can get very crowded.
