“Overall good hotel but not real Le Meriedien standard”
Reviewed 9 June 2012

Hotel is basically ok but not what we expected from a Le Meridien.Rooms are rather small and not as comfortable as you would expect from a Le Meridien, the SPA and pool area, however, looked nice. The hotel is ok to stay overnight but if you are looking for a higher standard and a central location you should probably make another choice.

Dear Nino S,

Greetings from Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur!

I appreciate your time in leaving us your feedback and take note of your comments on the room and size. We are in the process of developing our new room product that will enhance the look and feel of the guest rooms in the future In terms of location, LMKL is very central to the KL Sentral vicinity and helps provide our guests with the ease to the airport and a great hub to the center of town.

Warm regards,

Harvey Thompson

Location: Just across the street from KL Sentral station, great way to get around, pre-paid taxis also leave from the station with no haggling allowed. One stop away from Mid Valley shopping centre or a quick cab ride
Rooms: very comfortable, quite small but modern.
Food: Breakfast buffet is great, hot foods, cold foods, Asian and Western. We booked through the starwood site and picked the option including breakfast, paying separately is quite expensive.
Food at the pool bar is fairly limited and a bit pricey.
Pool area: good but shared with the hilton guests next door

Room Tip: Make sure you are a Starwood Preferred Guest, you get rooms higher up, more bottles of water and a f...

Dear ArohaR,

Greetings from Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur!

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and it is definitely a more convenient choice to book your stay off our Starwood site as you are guaranteed the best available rate and offer. In terms of the pool bar food, we will review this again and see what can be done to provide a great option in terms of choice and pricing. There will also be a very large shopping centre right here in KL Sentral towards the end of the year that will make this location even more attractive. We hope that you come back and choose us again on your next visit

Warm regards,

Harvey Thompson

I have stayed at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur twice now and both times the experience was well worth it. The rooms are very clean and have everything you could ask. The buffet dinner and breakfast is wonderful however after our last visit, the italian restaurant is a must and very affordable. The hotel is in a fantastic location, right across the road from KL Sentral that also has plenty of shops, eateries including Starbucks and McDonalds. For a tour around KL you can just wait at the hop on hop off bus stop across the road costing around $15 AUS. The service is always top class.

Can't go wrong with Le Meridian Kuala Lumpur because you know what you're getting.

Quality. Consistency. And comfort.

Excellent front desk staff, friendly staff and bell hops, a typically clean, comfortable room you always look forward to going back to after a long day of meetings and traffic jams in KL...strategic location makes it very practical especially if you want to hop on the train, head over to KLIA airport and get on your flight for your next business meeting.

Better value I think than the hotels at the airport area.

5 stars and two thumbs up from me.

OK - I'm an experienced business traveller, but this 5 night stay was business/pleasure and was in an executive room on the upper floors so I got chance to experience near enough all faciities.
Hotel is twinned with its next door neighbour the Hilton - mirror image from the outside and they share the same pool. Location is excellent and within easy walk of the KL Bird park and main museums. Getting to it from the airport is so easy and cheap. Take the KLIA express - takes 28 minutes to get to KL central. Hotel is clearly signposted from the main entrance hall and is literally across the road from the main entrance. You need to take elevator from lower level of hotel to reception - no big deal.
Check in and check out was OK and of the standard of hotels of this level - quick, pleasant and straightforward in a large open hall and you're made to feel welcome too. Everybody smiles and looks genuinely pleased to meet you.
Being on higher level, room was very good with usual modern well appointed hotel facilities. Quiet too - no outside traffic noise. We overlooked the museum zone looking westwards. Only down side is the large office block being built opposite which means that fantastic panoramic view is now partly obscured with privacy also eliminated, and a second block is, at the time of writing, starting to rise from its foundations threatening to obscure what is presently a fantastic view of the skyline.
Executive lounge on 33rd floor is well furnished with attentive staff who, on only the 2nd evening remembered our types of drink. There is also breakfast and an evening buffet and bar available between 1800 - 2000hrs. Didn't really use restaurant in the hotel, but if you're prepared to go for a 5 minute walk over to Brickfields there are plenty of restaurants available if you look.
Buffet breakfast in main restaurant is fabulous with a wide range of european and eastern cuisine to choose from - faultless. Daily maid service is also good with the room always returned to a cean and well made up condition with shampoos and shower gel tubes replaced on my return at day's end.
The gym is open 24/7 and is located in the Hilton, and access is easy, being on the same floor as the spa and pool. The pool itself is located on 8th floor and is just perfect for both the city break holidaymaker and business traveller but bear in mind my comment regarding the tower blocks - presenty they don't pose much of a shade problem but by the end of 2012 the 2nd one just might until midday. There are facilites for children - slide - and also for adults with a jacuzzi and shallow pool to sit and read in. When we visited, there were, at most, 10 people poolside at one time and plenty of beds from which to choose. It's clean and well but discreetly staffed with poolside toilets, changing and shower facilities.
Transportation into the centre is just excellent - 1 stop to Chinatown and central market, 5 stops to Petronas towers, although if you do want to walk, Chinatown is a 20 minute stroll. Trains run every 3 - 5 mins and are cheap as well (£0.30 GBP) to get to Petronas towers - don't bother with taxi's unless you're going out of town. Three main inner city transit routes exist intersecting at certain places and a doddle to negotiate. So, literally, from leaving your room to buying a ticket and emerging right outside Petronas towers takes 20 minutes (yep, I timed it).

Head for another hotel further into town and whether it's budget or expensive you'll have the hassle of traffic and/or carting your bags through the streets.

Unless you want to be picky, there is little to find fault in with the Meridien with plenty to do within 10 minutes walk if you're prepared to look. Very good and on my list for when I return to this city!

Room Tip: Ask for room which doesn't overlook the station and at least on 15/16th floor.

Dear Mark S,

Greetings from Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur!

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to host you during your stay in Kuala Lumpur. Transportation to and fro the KLIA and into town is indeed a breeze with the KLIA express, LRT and monorail station located just a stones throw away from the hotel. Your summary was very well planned and I feel gives a great overall picture of the location and KL Sentral. Thank you for really taking time to provide such comprehensive feedback and I hope that you continue to come back to LMKL when in KL
