Stayed here one night with my partner and it was exactly what we needed to rejuvenate before going back to the grind. The staff were incredible, every single one of them. Such lovely people! The room was spacious, very tastefully decorated and super comfortable. The pool was beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery. In room dining was really good. We loved the extra touches – the welcome drink & cold towel, welcome chocolates, complimentary evening cocktails. It’s a shame we didn’t stay longer. After this experience, we are really looking forward to experiencing the other establishments by the Samadhi group.

We stayed 2 nights here as part of a tour of Malaysia. The hotel was recommended by our travel agent, and we can now see why!

The hotel is a lovely boutique hotel in the embassy district of KL, still very near the centre. It was under 30 mins walk from the hotel to KLCC, twin towers, etc.

That said, the hotel had a lovely quiet ambiance, low rise around a lovely pool. Our room (13) was on the first floor, with a nice large balcony (although no view from it) and even a jacuzzi. The decor was rustic Balinese, all dark wood, absolutely lovely and so unlike most glass and concrete 5 star hotels in KL. the bathroom was large, the bed comfy, the room quiet.

The staff were very friendly and well trained, and spoke excellent English. The manager, Ewan, was constantly present, asking how we were, making suggestions for visits, and generally doing an excellent job. The whole experience was far more personal than a large 4 or 5 star of which there are many in KL.

The breakfast was as you would expect, a good choice of buffet items plus a good a la carte option as well. We liked the fact that the juices were freshly squeezed and we had the options of various smoothies. The location of breakfast was in the dining room, but with doors open and a real open air feel.

A recent introduction is a cocktail hour in the evening in which a complimentary cocktail is served. We had the G&T which was excellent. It is a relaxed affair, as the drinks take time to make, not like the boozy scrums which can happen at large hotels (e.g. The horrendous free drinks hour in the E&O in George Town).

The whole place feels like a secret we shouldn't share with others!

We ate out at Bijan, a restaurant serving good quality Malaysian food (not spicy) which is recommended. There are also lots of restaurants in KLCC and the twin towers are more impressive when lit at night.

We tried hard to think of criticisms so here is our list:
1. Smoking - the undercover areas are supposed to be non-smoking, but on at least 2 occasions we saw smoking in the bar area, which staff and Ewan clearly also saw but did nothing to stop. This was very disappointing.
2. Jacuzzi - there was no on or off switch - it was programmed centrally, and annoyingly came on at the same time as the evening cocktail hour! At the very least it should have been on earlier in the afternoon, say 4pm, not starting at 6.30pm. The balcony area was a bit bare and concretey, needed plants or soft furnishing to soften it.
3. Drinks - creamer is poor for a quality hotel, there should be real milk, and the cups do not have handles so you must wait for the tea or coffee to cool down!

Apart from the lax attitude to smoking, these are minor issues. We loved the hotel, our favourite in our trip to Malaysia, and we would want to return here if we ever come back to KL.

We previously stayed at the Traders hotel in a club room which has a nice view of the twin towers and is a good hotel, but the experience here is much more impressive. This hotel is highly recommended!

Dear Townsiders
Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your recent stay at the Villa Samadhi. We really do appreciate the in-depth review and all the feedback.
The bar cabana area is open on 4 sides and has 4 ceiling fans and it is one area that we do allow smoking, so sorry if this caused you an inconvenience. We are however delighted that you enjoyed the relaxed cocktail hour and the quiet ambience of our location. I hope we will have you stay with us again. Sincerely, Ewan and the team of Samadhians.

Wow! After our 8 nights traveling throughout Malaysia, we ended at Villa Samadhi and wished we had stayed here longer! This little gem of a place is nestled in the city, but feels like our own oasis. The rooms are very original and furnished with unique Balinese and Malayan pieces, with modern twists. Our gorgeous room had its own large hot tube and two magnificent rain showers. It was a delightful treat after traveling around Malaysia and the nearby islands.
Staff were most accommodating and we truly appreciated meeting and chatting with the manager at the cocktail hour. The food was fantastic and met our vegan dietary needs.
We would return to Villa Samadhi in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Room 15 was amazing!!

Villa Samadhi is a hidden treasure of KL. Situated so. Close to the city you might expect to arrive at a typical metro hotel yet as you come in through the gates you are in immediately transported to a peaceful abode. A zen sanctuary!

The grounds are stunning, boutique individual rooms crafted around a natural form pool with lush tropical gardens.

The staff at Villa Samadhi are extremely polite, attentive, thorough and helpful. Breakfast is included and the menu is extensive with a delicious option to suit any taste.

You cannot help but feel relaxed and calm in this wonderful setting. This is a place I will return to many many times.
