Description: Menbakaichidai has been a staple in the community for 30 years - burning through the competition with its famous "Fire Ramen." I innocently assumed that the ramen earned its name for being spicy, as are most "fire" dishes in the culinary world. It wasn't until I was inches away from a four-foot flame, that I finally realized this restaurant had taken things to the next level. From yahoo travel post

Very nice experience, lovely food and very, very friendly crew. It's an amazing experience. Price/quality in good balance. Give them a call to book a timeslot.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. I was trying to find ramen shop last minute as we just came in from the bullet train. Saw this place on TikTok and thought it was worth it as I seen many good reviews, plus saw the experience was great as well. Now understanding that I am in a different country that Xenophobia and racism is very present. I still wanted to come and enjoy my self in spite but straight to the point. The owner was not very receptive of POC even considering I was with my Asian friend as well. He tended more to the German/ Caucasian tourist more than to us, even with me knowing little Japanese and was trying to communicate respectfully considering I am in another country. At the end of final payment, he asked the other German tourists for pictures and didn’t ask my group until my friend said/asked for it. The experience and the food was still delicious but wished the service directly from him would have been unbiased, the staff was still friendly and receptive to my broken Japanese but seemed to annoy the chef which left me to speak English even though there was sort of a language barrier with the staff. normally don’t write reviews but not a big fan of racism and xenophobia considering at the end of the day I am a paying customer. So if you’re a poc and you decide to go knowing this, good luck.

It took forever to get in, and the reason being every half of the counter eats at the same time. This is because of the show, and what a show it is. The chef is so fun and kind, he knows what people are there for. Another good thing is that the ramen is great as well, so you get your money’s worth and more.

The entertainment factor was a lot of fun. The food did not live up to the fire show and was greatly overpriced ¥30,00. The ramen was not made with fresh ingredients, all packaged and the eggs from the supermarket this was a let down. The ramen is all prepared together and plated for each person in the restaurant before fire performance.

While the preparation of the food was the entertainment, the meal was delicious well worth it. The team in the kitchen were a well oiled machine working at a frenetic pace to deliver the meals. The owner and host was delightful spending time with the guests and explaining the fire display that accompanied the food service.
