All of these gates line up perfectly. Its a little bit of a climb up steps to get there, but worth it. The temples half way up are interesting. The bells at the temple ring out often. The dog/wolf with a golden fish in it's mouth guards the entrance. Lots of people in kimonos. Street food everywhere is interesting. Very clean.

Lovely shrine with lots to see and beautiful torii gates but get there before 9am...as the crowds will swarm. Really special place.

I would recommend gettinh here early if you want a good picture and theres plenty to be had. It is a lovely shrine too so this is a must do. Good transport links close by. I walked but i think you can get the jr line.

... and you will enjoy it in quietness and without pushing through. Amazing. A great contrast to the green forest around it.
Trains leave Kyoto station before 6 am.
