Location, Location, Location

You have probably heard the old adage "location, location, location". I absolutely loved the hotel's location and that the train station is within the same property complex. There are plenty of retail shops, something for everyone, in the property's complex. The top of the property complex is absolutely beautiful with a stunning colorful digital stairway show to see while riding the escalator all the way to the top floor. It's so entertaining while simultaneously taking your breath away as you reach the top complex floor during the evening hours to observe Kyoto's skyline.

I was very delighted with this hotel. You even had two locations where to eat for breakfast if you included the breakfast plan with your stay. Next, the room was spacious. Significantly, the concierge was extremely helpful with planning daytrips via the train and how to best transport to a different area in Kyoto via taxi to fit in the Golden Temple prior to closing time.

More, the bar on the hotel's lobby had the best premium Matcha that I tasted in all of Tokyo. There are taxis right outside of the hotel, the train station is right there including the Shinkansen--Bullet Train, and the local subway train is downstairs, making your day trips so convenient. My family was even able to fit in a quick half-day trip to Nara Deer Park because of the hotel's location.

Finally, the hotel is family friendly to minor children. I will definitely return to this hotel.

The location is excellent- right above the train station. We took a 30 plus minute walk to the Nishiki market and the 2nd day took the Subway. The rooms weren't as big as the other hotels we stayed at but the location and good value made up for it.

This is a fabulous hotel. Large, professional and immaculate. The room was clean and faultless- amenities were very well selected and much needed. I really loved the washcloth supplied. This was my second time coming here, but this time I brought my family over for a vacation and they too really loved the stay. We had a family room, the beds were comfortable as were the pillows, duvet, ventilation and cooling. The showers with the massage jets were amazing and much needed after a long day out and about! Also, should add, the pyjamas are a nice touch! Overall a classy hotel, great location and great place to stay!

The family room was perfect for our trip (family of two parents, a child, and a grandma)! The room had four comfortable single beds (they seemed wider than a US twin), a little couch, and a good sized dining table. Pictures were accurate to what our room looked like. I really liked that the bathroom had two doors - one sliding door near the beds and another on the other side of the bathroom closer to the entry door. This was convenient so the light from the bathroom didn't bother others while they were sleeping. Loved the water pressure and how quickly the water got hot from the shower (the body jets were great too!). Room had ample amenities (water and toiletries) that were refreshed daily. Great location for both trains and access to Kyoto. Lots to do, see, and eat around and at the station.

A couple of things we noticed - sinks seemed lower than what we're used to in the US. There's a couple of drawers in the bathroom that they store the towels in. We personally would have like a few empty drawers for our clothes. Our room was far from the elevators. I'm not sure if this is where all family rooms are located - it might be worth it to ask if the distance is a concern. We quickly got used to it and it really only took a few minutes to walk to the elevators. Our room was on the 10th floor and you could hear the train as it approached the station. It wasn't too loud and not constant so it didn't bother us. Personally, I found the rhythmic "clacking" to be soothing. If you're a super light sleeper, I recommend a room on the Kyoto Tower side or perhaps a higher floor.

Our room came with a buffet breakfast. What a spread!! The items were pretty consistent the four mornings we ate there so we both found our favorites and tried new things.

The service from the staff was great - everyone we encountered was very helpful and hospitable. I highly recommend the Hotel Granvia! This was our second time staying at the hotel and we would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel in a great location but let sown by the ridiculous check in rules and process. If you arrive even 1 minute before 3pm they do all paperwork but refuse to give you the room key until exactly 3pm, even though the room was ready and the hotel was half empty. Thry also dont let you check in after 8pm for some reason
Utter madness and so unfriendly. Also, reception is so over staffed but not with people to serve you. Its like the secret service with at least 8 staff just standing around doing nothing until you walk near cgeck in and thry stop you. 1 has to guide you to the queue to check in you were in anyway and 1 guides you the 2 metres from the queue to the desk. Also, at 3pm one desk closed for no reason given we all need to check in. Utterly unfriendly.
Room was lovely and breakfast great and location is fantastic so why ruin it with the first and last impression (and the crazy pool charge)

Room tip: They will not let you check in a moment before 3pm.

Was in Japan recently and stayed in 3 different hotels - 2 in Tokyo and 1 in Kyoto. And I know it may not be fair to Tokyo to compare the hotel in Kyoto with the ones in Tokyo. . . But . . . I have to say I love this place!! Love love love! Of the 3 places I stayed, this was the biggest and least expensive. I wished I had remembered to take pictures so you can see.

If you go to Kyoto, I highly recommend that you stay here as the accommodations is centrally located - literally above the Kyoto Station. And it’s clean, roomy, and very professionally staffed.
