Higuma is one of the original ramen shops that started the miso ramen trend in the 70s and 80s.

You get the classic miso ramen here with optional butter and corn. It's sweet, but not to sweet. Rich, but balanced. Very enjoyable if you are a ramen fan, but probably also a good place to start if you are a ramen newbie.

It's a small place with less than 10 seats, so you might have to get in line to eat here. We were here at 17:00 on a weekday, so we had no trouble getting a seat. But 20 minutes afterwards, people had started gathering outside the shop. Just one guy serving the ramen.

The place itself is a bit rundown, and there was a bit of a smell in the corner where I sat. No smell near the counter or anywhere near the food, though. I would not worry about hygiene. It's just an old place. And I guess that is part of the experience.

Miso ramen (delicious ramen) is my recommended menu. Its soup is concentrated-miso taste. The noodle is average. The spicy ramen is not good as miso ramen. And the gyoza with its sauce also good taste, don't forget to try it !!!

The noodle is an average. Soup - clear soup is the best to me/ miso soup is fine, but little fatty on top. There are counter seats about 10 seats, and 2 small tables. Service is fine, don't expect too much!

Great little ramen place in the famous ramen alley in Susukino, Sapporo. I'd recommend the spicy ramen and gyoza. No english menu here but just point to the menu and they'll be able to get you what you need. Only a very small place with about 10 spaces for customers. Costs roughly 800-900 yen per bowl.

NB: For first time visitors to Sapporo - ramen alley is located just south of Susukino station. Head south from the large intersection and turn left onto the next street. Ramen alley is then on the right side of this street after you head down about 50m or so. It is literally a small alley that is lined with ramen shops, you can't miss it as there will be lots of people going in/out of it.
