Higuma is one of the original ramen shops that started the miso ramen trend in the 70s and 80s.
You get the classic miso ramen here with optional butter and corn. It's sweet, but not to sweet. Rich, but balanced. Very enjoyable if you are a ramen fan, but probably also a good place to start if you are a ramen newbie.
It's a small place with less than 10 seats, so you might have to get in line to eat here. We were here at 17:00 on a weekday, so we had no trouble getting a seat. But 20 minutes afterwards, people had started gathering outside the shop. Just one guy serving the ramen.
The place itself is a bit rundown, and there was a bit of a smell in the corner where I sat. No smell near the counter or anywhere near the food, though. I would not worry about hygiene. It's just an old place. And I guess that is part of the experience.
