Went during cherry blossom time in the Golden Week. The traditional style park was a wonderful place for hanami or cherry blossom viewing. There were lots of people--in big groups, romantic couples, three generational family groups--with food, beer, sake enjoying the luminous beauty of scores of different varieties of cherry trees in full bloom.
The park itself is beautifully designed with water bodies.
There is also a cultural complex located there.
However, you should carry your own food and drinks as there are not too many facilities.. Even the toilets were inadequate by Japan's usually meticulous standards.
