A friend recommended this place for our visit to Hangzhou. This branch is located near West Lake, so we figure we could also do some sightseeing at the same time.
The Decor was pretty impressive for a Chinese restaurant... the interior designer has gone off on a European mindtrip, using abundance of pale wood set on black and white tiled floor. Even the wait staff's uniform are artistically designed with asymmetrical hem.
The food was Hangzhou style, mildly flavored. As far as taste went, it was not the best Hangzhou style food I ever had. We had fried pork rib (very good), boiled lamb and beef in a hot pot (o.k.), westlake beef soup (o.k.), sauteed shrimp (o.k.), yangzhou style fried rice (not good), and some other dishes that skipped my mind.
Now the service.... perhaps this is a really cool place to work because all the staff had their nose stuck in the air or in their mobile phone. Even the one carrying dishes out had such a look of disdain I am surprised he did not fell over. This attitude did not service the customer well.
I think it is a cool place to check it out but don't set your expectation on the same level as its reputation.
