“perhaps the oldest mosque of china”
Review of Huaisheng Mosque

Huaisheng Mosque

Reviewed 25 August 2017

This is perhaps the oldest mosque of china, which led to the spread of the religion islam in china.
This place dates back to more than 1400 years, when the sahaba (followers of the prophet) started their journey around the world to preach the religion islam.

The place is particularly busy on friday afternoon when many muslims come to offer their friday prayers.

However, i think non muslims have special visit timings.

The place also has a grave of the close follower of the propther ( sahaba saad abi waqas)

Outside there are many halal food outlets. Trying the barbecue is a must.

I know this mosque is very important because it is the oldest in China but as a non-Muslim it is not welcoming. Churches allow visitors to enter but this mosque is not open for non-muslims. You can see the minaret peeking out over the fence and it is near the Ximenkou metro stop and Guangxiao Temple so it is easy to visit to take the picture of the entrance and the pagoda and then move on.

The oldest mosque in Guangzhou...there is a decent hotel Jia Mei Hotel adjacent to this Mosque and next to the Jia Mei Hotel is a halal restaurant, Abi Waqqas Restaurant, located at Guanta Lu (Road) which is highly recommended. Go for its Mutton Briyani and Mutton Curry.
