When we came here for lunch, there wasn't a single chinese customer. A few tables were italians and 1 table was americans. Food was decent and authentic. More of a mom and pop italian joint quality than of a fancy italian restaurant in Italy. Portions of appetizers were on the large side and probably should have been shared. Even though the cooking was authentic italian, a few things really bothered me:
The steak knife was probably the worst steak knife i've EVER used. Luckily, the steak was very tender so I was able to cut it with relatively little effort. If it was average quality steak (not only in China, but in US or Italy), there was no way I could've cut the steak with that knife.
The bottles containing the olive oil and the vinegar on the table were leaking so bad that I had my hands all messed up after the salad. As it's china, i sucked it up and didn't complain about that.
The strangest thing of all was the salt and pepper bottles on the table. Not only did they mixed up the salt and pepper bottles. It was WHITE pepper powder like in a chinese restaurant!!! That was the first time I've ever seen anything like that in a non chinese establishment.
Disregarding the various peculiarities, the food in buorgiorno is quite up to standard for an italian restaurant in china. Probably one of the best italian restaurants in guangzhou.
