It a combination of thousands of shops, restaurant , kiosks, stalls and street hawks . It is located just north of the Majid e Nawabi. There are both posh shops and cheap shops. Burgain is must in every shop whether posh or cheap, but not in restaurants.

We were told that this market exist since Prophet Muhammad SAW's lifetime. Only 2-3mins walk from the Masjid An-Nabawi. You can find dates, garments, prayer beads, prayer mats etc here. Do bargain for the best price.

These are nothing but roadside shops displaying the wares so as to attract the pilgrims who visit the Haram of Medinah five times a day for prayers. These shops with glittering gold jewellery, clothes, varieties of dates, gift items, ladies handbags, bangles, clips etc., is nothing but a distraction from the main purpose of praying in the second greatest & blessed Mosque in Saudi Arabia. The bazaar ( market ) has everything from the cheapest to the costliest item you need. These shops are mostlly flooded with cheap China made goods, which can be purchased for two or three Riyals and given as gifts, when you return to your homeland. The speciality of these goods is that they are as unreliable as their price is. For your dear ones go for quality goods and as far as possible avoid these cheap ones. They are nothing but waste of money, as they say all that glitters is not gold. As regards jewellery shops here, one has to be careful with the quality of gold and price. Some shops bargain the price. The ladies make it a point to buy some gold jewellery in Madinah, having regard to the sacredness & sanctity of the place. How far this is true is a matter of debate.
As this place is on the way to Haram one cannot avoid putting his gaze on the various bright & shining items displayed. But visiting the shops once in a while on the way to Haram is alright but to make it a habit, will deprive you of the reward of visiting Madinah to solely seek the blessings of Allah & His messenger. Therefore, be focused in the purpose of your visit to Madinah, after spending so much of your hard earned money. Enjoy the shopping but not at the cost of prayers and attendance before the resting place of Prophet (Peace be upon him ). Shopping can be done anywhere in the world, but the choicest blessings from Heaven are shovered only here & nowhere else. Always keep this in mind.

I'll say no one will suggest or forbid to shop from such bazar as everyone pass by it to approach Harram. Stall keepers know language of potential buyers and have almost all stuff to distract people from actual purpose of being there specifically ladies, gifts, perfume, clothes, toys, fruits etc a long list of items available at bargain price.

In one of the old bazaar madinahmain streets of the city, leading to the Prophet Mosque, you will find an extremely busy and crowded but really amazing place: The Old Bazaar. Between the shouting salesmen and packed stalls you can buy a wide variety of typical Arabian products. It’s a great place to souvenir hunting. Your visit to Madinah would not be complete if you have not been here!

The Bazaar actually is one big market, with all kinds of Arabian products and many highly motivated salesmen. The vendors offer everything you could possibly imagine. To help you choose, we have listed the 5 most popular souvenirs bought in Madinah

you can have really brand products and perfumes with high discount rates during high seasons. it is worth a visit but don't let it discharge you from the real reason of your visit to Madina, it is really a big trap, try to avoid, Prayers come number 1
