The cathedral is an important historic landmark. It was one of the first stone buildings in town (the town was founded in 1893 and the cathedral construction started in 1897), then it was closed in Soviet times (in 1937) and reopened as a cathedral in 1989. So this a kind of buildings the local children learn about in school.
But I wouldn't say it's a tier I attraction. There is nothing exceptional about it's architecture (it actually looks like a replica of Church of Our Lady the Merciful in St.Petersburg build a few years earlier), the interior was redecorated in the 1990s, so not much history there. It's ok to stop by but isn't worth a special visit in my opinion.
