The hotel was booked as part of the Visa-free visit. Efficient, the usual huge options for breakfast (and including sparkling wine!!) Solo, bedrooms are often quite small, but my room at the Ambassador was spacious. There is a nice little gift shop. But I forgot my swimming togs, so could not enjoy the indoor pool. There is a park nearby. The Church of the Spilled Blood is about a half hour walk. We taxied there, walked back.

Stayed at the Ambassador in St Petersburg for 4 nights with a tour group. Good hotel free wifi, clean room friendly staff with notable exceptions. No tea making facilities so I asked for a kettle, free but if you want tea bags we will have to charge! The hotel has a pool and sauna, so after a long day walking around the famous sites I headed down to the fitness area.
"Yes sir can I help you. ".
"I would like a swim and sauna. "
"That will be 1300 roubles, it is free of charge before 11 am".
Come on, seriously!
Breakfast was good, coffee was bad, a guy making omelettes was a nice touch he was straight out of the Seinfeld "No soup for you" episode, Dimitri was busy with his phone so customers and their eggs seemed a bit of an inconvenience for a master chef.
A couple of coins went missing from our friends table. Low value but disturbing. Overall a good older style hotel but they could try harder.

This hotel has good location. Breakfast is lavish with omelette cooked to order.I stayed here for 3 days with a group of friends. Rooms are comfortable, bathroom has everything needed, good amenities, bath with safety handrails and lots of towels.
However housekeeping needs improvement. Our bed linen was not changed for 3 days despite obvious stain on pillows.
The rooftop restaurant has splendid view and decor, but our beef stroganoff was tough and overpriced. The waiters served with stony face and removed plates well before the last diner finished.
We then ate at the next door Georgian restaurant, had the most perfectly cooked salmon for half the price.

Hotel locate in the center of Saint Petersburg so you can expect it to be spacey. And it is. Room is small with minimal furniture and an old TV. The corridor is tiny, not even one meter wide, you will have a feeling of walking though a underground maze. But because it locate in the center of city so you have store and mini-market very close by.

Good thing is the room is very quite so you will get a quality sleep. There is a water stand on the corridor so you can get cold and hot water from there. Breakfast is on 11-th floor restaurant with a great view.

The reception is very very slow, I was in hurry but they took like 20 minutes to calculate the money I have to pay. 3 people, 20 minutes to print 1 check. That could be a record. And the most fearsome thing is the toilet paper: very low quality, not soft and feel like sandpaper. I would rather use a newspaper.

Stayed here for a few days as part of an event with some industry colleagues. The hotel looked after us well, and everything ran smoothly.

Rooms were fine; uninspired, but no unpleasant surprises or issues.

Restaurant food was similarly inoffensive, but not particularly exciting.
