The rooms are modern and every bit as good as western equivalents with all the facilities a traveller needs. It was also well maintained and everything worked. Many rooms look into a central area which not very scenic but is quiet.
The gym and swimming pool are buried in the basement and are perhaps not particularly inspiring places to exercise.
The location is a little outside the central area but it is close to the Marianski Theatre, and a 10 minute walk brings you easily into reach of the metro, or bus station.
The restaurant is located on the top floor and the view is really spectacular, so it would be great if the quality of the food matched this. It is served buffet style with plenty of choice, which seems to work OK for breakfast, but dinner is really not in the same league. It is much better to seek out a Russian restaurant elsewhere, and the ever helpful concierge knows several, so take their recommendations, they know the city well and can organise everything with a smile and cheerfulness.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms overlook the central area, those on higher floors have better views.

Dear Guest!
Thank you for your detailed description of our hotel and kind words which were found for us. I feel really sorry that our meal for dinner was disappointing for you. I dare comment this remark: the choice of food fully depends on the budget we are given by travel agency. If you have ordered your meal a la carte separately from the group dinning it would be different. Happily you’ve found the way out to go to a restaurant near by though I am sorry that you did not try our cuisine a la carte.
We shall discuss quality of meal with our restaurant service and will think over about improvement in this sphere.
We will be happy to see you again in our hotel.

With best regards,

Olga Kazantseva

We didn't use subway, but it wasn't very close to the hotel location,
Our rooms were very far from the elevator,
Beautiful place for breakfast located at top level of the hotel, but the quality of food was medium,
Not enough plugs were in the room,
Our room was very cold, although the air conditioner was off, but my friends room next to us was OK.
A park, a club, and some restaurants were close to the hotel.
There's a kind of 2 floor lobby, which I liked the upper one, close to the coffee shop. It was quiet and relaxing. In the evenings a girl played the piano there.

Dear Guest,
Thank you that you’ve found time to write about your impressions on the hotel. Unfortunately you were not satisfied with the room temperature but it could be easily solved if you had informed us. Situated in a side street near to a park, it does not at first glace, seem like the perfect place to stay. However, walk through the door and opinions soon change. It is luxurious in a sparkly sort of way. Every member of staff (and there are lots of them) we came across was superb and approached guests with an old fashioned style of courtesy. The front desk and concierge were excellent.
Our travel agent had told the hotel that it was my wife's birthday treat and so on arrival we were told that our room was upgraded. We took one of the 4 lifts up to our floor. And what a room with a superb view of St. Petersburg over the rooftops. It was equipped with everything we needed including a shoe horn and clothes brush. Nice old fashioned touches. Spotlessly clean, fantastic shower, quiet A/C and a marvelous bed. Breakfast is an event with a panoramic view. The choice was amazing and was constantly replenished. The waiting staff were quietly efficient. Granted it is not in the middle of the city but it is only a 10min walk to St Isaacs Square and 7 min to nearest Metro station. The Metro is superb, totally safe, clean, bright and costs about 40p each (yes 40p) to travel to any part of the city. Why stay anywhere else?

Dear Guest!
Thank you very much for your extremely positive and flattering comments about our hotel.
What surprised me the most – style of your letter. Very few people possess a gift of epistolary genre. Your letter is a good example to follow. I even do not know what to answer you because you’ve mentioned almost everyone and everything like positive moments of your stay with us.
The only thing which is left for me is to invite you again to be our dear Guest!

The room was fairly big, although there was a faint smell of urine in the bathroom. One bed smelled of perfume and the other smelled of tiger balm. Otherwise, the carpets were clean. If you forgot your toothbrush, they do supply free of charge.

Location was not bad. It is still a 20-30 min walk to the main street. It is in a fairly safe area. There is fast free Wi-Fi which is a bonus. Staff were on the whole, friendly. The lobby and restaurant and hallways are all well maintained.

The restaurant food was passable. We had a pork and spaghetti dinner there as our "farewell dinner" during our tour. Sauce was good, but the meat was rather tough. The dessert Crème Brulee was a bit on the runny side. Breakfast was ok. Potatoes were a little soggy.
