The rooms are modern and every bit as good as western equivalents with all the facilities a traveller needs. It was also well maintained and everything worked. Many rooms look into a central area which not very scenic but is quiet.
The gym and swimming pool are buried in the basement and are perhaps not particularly inspiring places to exercise.
The location is a little outside the central area but it is close to the Marianski Theatre, and a 10 minute walk brings you easily into reach of the metro, or bus station.
The restaurant is located on the top floor and the view is really spectacular, so it would be great if the quality of the food matched this. It is served buffet style with plenty of choice, which seems to work OK for breakfast, but dinner is really not in the same league. It is much better to seek out a Russian restaurant elsewhere, and the ever helpful concierge knows several, so take their recommendations, they know the city well and can organise everything with a smile and cheerfulness.More
