“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and a more "western" hotel was more than welcome at this point in our trip. We arrived very early (9:30am) from a train from Moscow and they were kind enough to let us into our room at that time. The room we had was large and bed was very comfortable. Not in heart of city, but nevertheless, very close walking to all major attractions, if you don't mind walking. On our last morning, we enjoyed delicious omelets at the onsite restaurant...before returning to the normal Russian cuisine....

Spent 4 nights here following 3 in Moscow. Very comfortable room, spotlessly clean, excellent buffet breakfast. Staff very pleasant and smiling unlike many Russians!
Location was absolutely spot on, easy walking distance to Nevsky Prospect and Church of Spilled Blood, Hemitage (40 min walk).
Many restaurants nearby that offer traditional russian food - borsch, pelmeni etc, quite hard to find among all the Italian and Suchi eateries.
Roof top restaurant in hotel was wonderful, following a full day's walking around the city, food was super and the view of St Isaac's Cathedral really breathtaking.

This is an excellent hotel. My wife and I very much enjoyed our experience here. We were given a free upgrade to the suite and it was a 2 story suite with lots of space. The breakfast was simply wonderful and I would have gladly paid for that breakfast (all the british favorites (eggs, tomatoes, beans, potatoes) along with pastries, expresso, yogurts, fruits, cereals, and classical european selections).

The location of the hotel was simply amazing. You are a 2 minute walk from St. Isaac's cathedral and a 10-15 minute walk from the Hermitage, Church on the Spilled Blood, etc. I could not have been more pleased with the location as it allowed us to walk everywhere.

As expected with the Renaissance chain, the rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, WiFi was provided and had sufficient speed to VPN.

If I return to this lovely city, I will definitely stay here again!

Modern hotel in prime location near St. Issac and within walking distance to Nevsky Prospect and Hermitage.

Modern room with cable TV, well sized (like typical American hotel room) modern fixtures in bathroom, hair dryer, robe, etc.

Don't usually have a lot to do with hotel staff but the Concierge was a godsend (arranging taxis, reservations, advice) and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

24 hr market two doors down (great for bottled water, snacks) and very nice buffet breakfast was included.

The hotel has 2 restaurants including a rooftop bar and modern fitness center. Free WiFi in the lobby.

Great, comfortable visit.

I would give this hotel top marks for location, all the main sights are within easy walking distance. There are many really good restaurants within 5-10 mins walk. All the staff were friendly, helpful and really the main reason why I would recommend this hotel.
My first night was spent in a room with a connecting door and I was disturbed by noise of the people next door. The following morning I asked for a room change and it was done immediately without any problems or drama.
The hotel has an ATM, bank service and good gift shop. The 'navigator' will help you book boat trips, taxis and recommend and advise on all sorts of things.
The terrace bar has a wonderful view of the cathedral and is a pleasant place for a drink.
The only downside (and why I don't give this hotel top marks) is that the rooms face inwards to an internal space. There is no natural light and the curtains had to be kept closed when the lights were on. I would prefer a room where you could tell if it was day or night, but this situation might not bother others. Taxi time to the aiport approx 30 mins and costing about 30euro.
Breakfast was too expensive but there are quite a few restaurants and cafes nearby for more affordable options. Wi-fi free in the lobby only.
