I chose this hotel for my 6-night stay because it looked clean, was near metro stations/bus stops and i could get a good deal on it (i booked and paid it one month prior to my stay; a week before arrival i noticed the rates were up by about 60%). And clean and central it is! Plus the staff are really friendly and helpful; at the front desk they speak English very well. The room and bathroom were more than adequate. Wifi is great (at least just behind the reception desk and in the breakfast area), I was able to stream videos easily (after all, TV is only in Russian). Breakfast is fine; although I did catch a very old and smelly one between the hard boiled, cold eggs - who knows how long it had been put out there. When I dared to try one again two days later, I got an egg that had an acid, chemical smell. From then on I left the eggs for what they were.
The one big disadvantage is the traffic noise: the double glazing doesn't seem thick enough to stop it (or are the windows fitted incorrectly and is the noise leaking?), the street paving is "loud", there are bus stops right in front, there are two traffic lights which cause accelerating cars, and the Russians love to step on the gas when the streets are quiet and love to tune their exhaust to make some extra noise. All in all you will always hear lots of traffic.
The entrance door is not on the main road but around the corner in the little side street. The stair case looks shabby, but don't let it fool you, and the elevator only stops in between the floors. In the vicinity there are two malls with everything you could need, including a 24 hr supermarket (in the basement of the mall behind the metro station). They can be found quicker by turning left after leaving the hotel, passing through the street vendors, and there is the first mall entrance already...
