This hotel is not in the center of town, but it's 4 metro stops away. But you probably don't need to use the metro very much; as Uber is quite reliable, fast and very cheap (like 150 rubles to the Hermitage). The hotel is a two-block walk to the metro (cut through the adjoining Holiday Inn) where there are a few shops, including a very visible cellphone store that will sell you a SIM card for 300 rubles that will give you phone calls and data in St. Petersburg (necessary to use Uber). A nice grocery store is adjacent to the Holiday Inn (good for buying a vodka souvenirs). I'd avoid taking taxis as many of them are scammers.
What you get for staying outside of the city center is a modern hotel with free self-serve laundry (very useful for travelers), spacious suites (the 2-king, 2 bedroom suites is terrific for families), free decent-but-not-fantastic breakfast), and a helpful staff. I used my IHG Rewards points for my stay. Given the quality of the hotel, and the ease of transport into the center city, I would stay here again. St. Petersburg is a very large city, so any hotel location, even one more centrally located, won't be completely walkable, so the extra 10 minutes of Uber travel time to the Staybridge didn't really bother us.More
