If this is 4 star, then they've lifted the scale to 10 without telling me. It's not Park Inn's staff or service. It's the room. In my book, a 4 star room has space to swing a cat. Not that you'd necessarily do that, but when you pay top whack, as you will for the Park Inn Nevsky experience, cat-swinging space should be a given. Instead, the room seems to have been designed to fit the bed, not the other way round. There's nowhere to spread out your bags, let alone sit back and watch TV. And that's just teh beginning. Four stars surely rates a mini-bar, or at least a kettle and tea bags for a nice cup of tea, maybe an iron and ironing board, a sizeable cupboard in which to hang your things, and perhaps a few luxurious extras like shampoo and soap. Forget it. Or even a bath? Nuh, no bath - not in Park Inn Nevsky. Then there are serious discomfort factors like the rolls of Russian sandpaper beside the you-know-where and, almost as painful, a single piece of white fabric on the bed which, if it were filled with feathers might represent a pillow but in Nevsky's case is so thin it's pretty useless for the accepted purpose and totally inadequate if TV watching is in your mind. There are many more reasons to dispute Park Inn Nevsky's claim to 4 stars - the noisy beer-keller style restaurant, the tour groups crowding out a too-small lobby, the hotel's distance from key attractions like Winter Palace – but other reviewers have already covered those undeniable problems.
