Beautiful church, beautiful views from outside, there is no fee to enter and its a quick visit so you can visit easily.

Once, even before the October revolution of 1917, there was a revered temple in this spot. The Bolsheviks dropped the bells, demolish the church and in its place arranged a swimming pool "Moscow". Time has changed, the temple was rebuilt anew. Moreover, it has become perhaps the most important temple of the Russian capital, pushing aside the Kremlin churches and revered monasteries. Its massiveness and impressiveness, its position on the Bank of the Moscow river obliquely from the Kremlin behind a Big Stone bridge, the gilded domes of the towers, and its exuberantly luxurious interior - all this, apparently, became for the hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church a symbol of their accomplished revenge and ultimate victory. And it is not surprising that during the services near the temple are very expensive cars.

Althought it is important for religious reasons, it is not one of the highlights of Moscow. There is nothing special in its architecture or some special reason why you should visit it. If you are not staying for longer that three days in Moscow, I would recommend not to go to this church as you need some time to get there.

The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is a lovely golden domed Russian orthodox church is situated on the northern bank of the Moskva river, a few hundred meters southwest of the Kremlin. The bridge nearby provides great photo opportunities of the church in one direction and the Kremlin in the other. The cathedral is worth a visit.
