Description: In a cafe, everything should be fine: food, atmosphere and soul. Chekhov's Cafe is a cozy place with fine traditions of business lunches and friendly dinners with a glass of fine wine and an excellent menu. And home hospitality Chekhov has a wonderful secret - to take a person in a spiritual captivity right from the spot! In our menu, the classic Russian cuisine and the accents of the new world trends of gastronomy were combined. Familiar products, but unexpected combinations of flavors, textures and flavors - this is the real dishes from the chef.

Chekhov restaurant is situated in the top centre of Moscow in Kamergerskiy lane. It's a part of Moscow Art Theatre , and you can guess that there is a big chance for audience to meet Russian theate and movie stars there.
The location of the restaurant is super, and that's all. The design, staff and the most important thing - the cousine is OK...just OK. I was there 3-4 times and all the time thought, why it's not crowded there. In such a location, in such a theatre district, in such a walking area it should be crowded, but as I said among such a restaurant competition place (Moscow heart), you can't be OK, you should be super.

Sincerely yours,
Artur

Extremely close walking distance to the Marriott Grand Hotel where we were staying. Menu is large, offering great variety of traditional cuisine. Great quality/price ratio. Interior is warm and inviting. Will return on my next trip!

Was invited by a local customer, who has pre-ordered the starters when she made the reservation: A mixture of all typical Russian starters. We were a party of 5 and shared these Russian "tapas". Delicious!
This pre-ordering is very recommendable as the restaurant is small and all is prepared freshly, so bring time. Just before the starters were served we've selected and ordered our individual entrees. My Porcini-Pelemi (like Tortellini) in a broth were just excellent - al dente and yummy.
Tasteful decoration; attentive and professional service.Good wine list. Very recommendable!

Came here looking for a good lunch before going to football. We started with either vodka or prosecco - the Russian Standard Platinum was very drinkable.

Two of us had the borscht with duck, veal and apple - it was delicious. The cream was served on a spoon for you to put in as you wished. A friend had the porcini soup which she really enjoyed. Bread basket had three different types of bread and was good quality.

I then had the beef stroganoff with mash. It wasn't he biggest of portions but was lovely - definitely hit the spot. A friend had the stuffed cabbage leaves - again, not the largest of portions but rated excellent. Can't remember what the other friend had!

We washed the food down with a very pleasant carmenere from Chile.

Price for three of us with two courses, vodka/prosecco and wine was 6200 rouble - which was fine for the quality we had.

The restaurant itself was lovely - comfy seats, plenty of distance from other tables, waiting staff in period clothing and charming décor.

Would be happy to visit again.

This October saw my visit to Moscow, and another time I find this restaurant to be the best solution for dining out in the city centre. The choice of dishes is terrific, everything is very typical Russian and extremly tasty. Special thanks to the waitress Margarita - she is a high-class waitress having provided us with advice about food and drinks.
