From the airport w/o traffic its about 30 minutes by taxi (using the airport taxi it costs roughly 300pesos; using regular taxi the fee is about 200pesos). I'd rather take the airport taxi even if there is a 100pesos difference since you know you are secured as your ride is listed/monitored by their dispatcher. Restaurants and Malls are walking distance from this hotel so can find lots to do anytime of the day. Taxis are abundant in Cebu City so if you're going somewhere you don't have to worry about transportation and since Sampaguita Suites JRG is in the heart of the city; everything is nearby. The rooms are basic but you have lots of space to put your luggage although the bathroom is quite small that when you turn on the shower everything gets wet. Its a nice place to sleep and put your bags in the only problem is they have ongoing renovation on the second floor where the matrimonial rooms are so by 7am up until 5pm you will hear hammering and drilling. Also, the hallways are tiled so you can hear people passing by if they have heavy feet or drag stuff around; the room door doesn't sound proof the room from the noise in the hallway. The design of the bathroom, in my opinion, wasn't thought through since the hook to hang your towel is directly in front of the shower. The only choice is to hang your towel in the cabinet and grab it when you're done with the shower but that will only get the floor wet and make it slippery.

Room Tip: You can't smoke inside the rooms but they do have a smoking area on the third floor which I appreciate because other budget hotels would require you to go outside for a smoke.

Stayed at their family executive suite for 2 nights here c/o a deal via group buying. My first fear about the building set-up was that the rooms were arranged like a maze that it's really hard to find your room, or worse, to escape when there's an emergency. No elevator. The front desk staff were nice. The room was kind of small for a suite, well it was a budget hotel in the first place. My first impression with the bedsheet was that it looked grayish and unclean. The fridge was stocked but at a price. The toilet and bath was fairly clean. The aircon took time to cool up the place, so they have a back-up ceiling fan. We had an encounter though with a rat that ran across our room, but we managed to shoo it away towards the door and placed the doormat between the door and floor gap to prevent the rat to come in. Before we checked in to that hotel, I did some research about the place and came across with incidents about staff lurking over guests' belongings. So I did a little test, I bought some grapes and left a few open after I counted how many there were. Going home after shopping, despite of my order not to make up the room, on which they still made up, alas, the some of the grapes I placed as bait were stolen, and the backpack of my friend, the unlocked pocket was open, luckily, nothing was missing. Positive side is that they have free wifi and it is near establishments.

If you are a budget traveller and not expecting for luxury this is a good place to stay.We checked-in last May with my family just to rest because our flight is around 12am, so basically we only stayed here for a couple of hours. I managed to sleep but not that comfortable like any other hotel coz the room is so small with tv nothing special. The bathroom is also small and nothing special. They just have a nice location near everything :)

PROS Stra tegically located, closed to touristattraction. Old churches and shrine.
Room was small but just ok if you are just to sleep. The room AC was working fine, but because it was place in a corner where its blower is facing the door, the room can hardly get cold.

to easily find this Hotel, look for MAGELLANS CROSS. When you find this shrine, you find this hotel.

The room price at 1200p is a bargain price if your e not expecting Luxury.
Its a basic, smalll room, with A/C, Pay TV, and small ensuite shower & toilet.

Positives;
"Chan" is why we will always go back to Sampaguita, and recommend this hotel. He is quite possibly the best porter, in CEBU!
Unlike his counterparts, this young lad RAN, when asked for a Taxi or towels, and made you feel like a priority!
Huuge congrats to him...
good filipino breakfast, i recomend the local milkfish, pronounced ""BANG-UUUS"", for allll the foreigners...hehheeee
one of the biggest tourist attractions in Cebu, The oldest church in the Philippines, ""Santo Nino"" is 50metres away.
There are 2 smalllll Supermarkets, close by.

Negatives;
beds are very hard, as they are only foam mattresses
Air con filters neeed cleaning, AT ALLL CEBU HOTELS...its easy to open and put in the shower to wash off the dust.......or like what i do, buy some "toilet cleaner" and wash it properly, whilst having a shower.
Dont rely on house cleaning, in ANY of the cebu hotels to do it, as they will only "wipe" the dust off....

Begging children are always outside this hotel, and heartbreakingly, must be ignored, unless you want a RIOT !!!!!!
if you give one child a lollie, alll of them, 10 or 20, run over to you...surrounding and swarming you, while the Lazy guard will just laugh...

if you want to give charity without being overwhelmed, go out at 4am, and put some real foood( 2min noodles , rice or uht milk) beside them as they sleeeep, outside the hotel........this is what we did.

Room Tip: Air con filters neeed cleaning, AT ALLL CEBU HOTELS...its easy to open and put in the shower to wash off the dust
