“Don't ever stay in this terrible hotel!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2010

We stayed there for one night. The room is fine but the bed sheets and curtain got some cigarette damage. I smoke that night and when the time comes for our check out early morning the staff told us that we have to pay for the damages of cigarette burned bedsheets.
My sister who didn't smoke slept in that bed sheet and she said she saw it before she went to sleep. So we told them that the sheet was already burned when we arrived. The arrogant housekeeper told us that because we smoke we have to pay for it. How stupid reasoning! We called the manager and told her the situation. I also told her that I also saw some burned in shower curtain and the housekeeper didn't react. I said were not going to pay for the damages that's not ours and were going to complain them. And so that was when called it off. They ruined our day!!!

This is a great hotel right in the middle of Makati. The street is alive and vibrant at night so you don't have to walk far from the hotel to find some excellent food, bars etc...
The staff are extremely friendly and many Australians are recommended to stay there when they are visiting the Philippines for dental or medical treatments.
The 1950's US themed restaurant/bar/cafe on the first floor is a gas and a MUST see...especially if you like good tucker and a pretty amazing collection of all things American and old...ie Coca Cola signs, life size super heroes, motorbikes, ELVIS! Yes the king is in the Philippines!

From their website:
"Authentic gas pumps from the days of old grace theme rooms like the Vietnam War Helicopter. Adventurous guests can also lounge in an authentic Chevy converted into a comfortable luxurious bed. Theme rooms like the Billiard Room, the Bumper Car, the Spanish Galleon, the Opium Room and even the NYPD Helicopter Room take the guests back in time or to a whole new world where charm and comfort reside.

Room service was great(24/7), staff smiling, helpful and courteous and will help with anything including on-booking to holiday destinations around the country.
I would recommend for sinlges and couples...families too really. It's safe, clean and be sure to ask about the "themed rooms" they have if you want to treat yourself.
I checked it out on the web b4 I went and what others said, which is what I have written here, is pretty accurate.
Remember... it is right in the middle of the night life strip in Makati...get out there and enjoy!

My wife and I travel from the USA to the Philippines to visit family and vacation every two years. We stayed at Royal Bellagio this past time for the first 3 weeks of October 2009. The location is nice for us because it is conveniently located near our family and other points of interest. We also enjoy the night life on occasion and it’s a great place to people watch.

The hotel is located across the street from Makati Palace Hotel and a block away from Citadel Hotel. The cost was a little higher for Royal Bellagio and we expected not to have many problems. We did get put in to a smoking room and are non-smokers and had requested a non-smoking room in advance. We got in late and had to sleep in the smoking room and it was late the next day when we had to move all our stuff to the non-smoking room. The superior room was $62 per night. The hotel offers 2 complementary drinks per night but don’t believe it because they are not honored by the bars around as they suggest. Just worthless incentive to get more guests. The hotel has 14 floors and ours was on the 11th floor. For several days when we were there the elevator was out of service so we had to hike up the 11 floors. The hotel has just the one elevator but it is staffed by a couple of the nicest guys you can imagine. That is where the friendliness stops. Don’t bother going to the front desk during the day when staffed by 4 of the most unfriendly and snobbish ladies. Luckily we only deal with them at check in or check out. They are not helpful and often if you ask them a question they will answer you with just another question. This will be our last time to stay at the hotel because of a single feeling of being taken advantage of.

One evening after housekeeping cleaned our room they left a bag with 2 bed sheets and a hand towel in a bag and a note that said the items were damaged/stained and cannot be cleaned. We were shocked! There was a little makeup on the sheet and the hand towel was already a little dingy when we got it and picked up a little more dirt from the bathroom floor where we were suppose to leave it to get it replaced. The note said 600 pesos for the hand towel and no other charges were indicated. The worst part was they did not even try to wash them. So we paid 200 pesos and had them all washed across the street. We returned them as they looked just as good as they did when we received them. On our last night they left another note that they could not remove the charge because the damage was still evident. It was absolutely FALSE! Keep in mind they did not even try to wash the items before charging us and they even had a tag that said they were fabricated in 2006. They were 3-4 yrs old and they want us to buy them new ones. How fair is that? When we checked out they charged 300 peso for losses and breakage? Nothing was lost or broken but anyway only 300 pesos. Then Linen was 600 pesos (they said for the hand towel). Then 4200 pesos for the bed sheet. That is over $100 extra we had to pay! NO WAY! We let them know we were shocked by this additional fee, but we paid it and left without any argument. But the feeling of being taken advantage of is PRICELESS! I would have much rather paid more for my room to avoid being taken advantage of. When we returned home we sent the management an email discussing the issue. We did not hear back and gave the manager a call a couple weeks later and found out the ladies at the front desk avoided giving the email to the manager. It turns out it didn’t really matter because they were not willing to offer any refund for the fraudulent charges. Please BEWARE of this hotel for this one reason! Consider City Garden which is just a block away and a far better hotel with much better customer service for just a few dollars more per night. Also by March 2010 a new hotel, St Giles, is scheduled to open next to City Garden.

I spent a week here. Great value for money. Nice rooms excellent service. Food is not great at the filling station restaurant who also do room service, but edible and safe.
Hungarian Goulash soup is great.
Hotel is 15 mins walk to the main Makati business district which is faster than taking taxi during rush hour. Burgos St is the red light district with lots of bars and the place is going 24 hours a day. 5am is like 9pm. The pick up service and drop off service at the airport is excellent, they meet you and drop you off 800 pesos per trip, airconditioned SUV. Security is good a very safe place.
Internet is wireless with a card renewed daily but expensive. 24 hout internet cafe next door and cheap.

This hotel was ok. We stayed here twice in the same trip; I didn't have any major complaints, but as with most places, there are some major pros and cons.

Pros:
- Seems like a new hotel, as it looks modern and doesn't look run-down at all
- The hotel is close to the major shopping malls in Makati
- The room was clean
- A/C works well (at least in the room we were in)
- Staff seem generally friendly, particularly the elevator attendants
- They offer a pick-up from the airport, which was extremely convenient (and necessary, especially if you're a foreigner)
- The place is cheap
- The hotel, itself, was safe

Cons:
- The hotel is in the heart of P. Burgos Street, Manila's red light district, so the area is loud, busy, and trashy. It didn't seem unsafe, but it's definitely not family-friendly
- The hotel restaurant is terrible and overpriced; avoid it at all costs
- The rooms in the front of the hotel face the street, which is very noisy at all hours of the day and night; if you're on a lower floor, this could get annoying very quickly

For the price and the location, this hotel can't be beat.

  • Liked — Price, proximity to Makati's shopping malls
  • Disliked — Location in Manila's red light district
