Stayed at Citadines for a week during a business trip. The hospitality and service is amazing. I got really sick during the end of my stay and one of the hotel staff actually got in a cab with me and came to the hospital and helped me go through the process.

The apartment is clean and spacious, and the bed is comfy. The hotel is located in the business district and there is everything you need nearby; restaurants, pharmacies, corner stores. This is especially practical on very hot and humid days.

A great choice if you came to Manila for affairs in the business district.

Stayed at Citadines Salcedo Makati for almost 2 months with a bunch of work colleagues and loved the hospitality, the amenities and the homely vibe that the hotel gave.

For starters, the staff were polite and friendly. They were always available to help when required. The pool, gym and wifi facilities were good. The Housekeeping of the room was excellent, especially for someone who has been staying for a 2 month period. Breakfast was sufficient with quite a few options that can help you to mix and match. For food, all the major fast food joints and a couple of really good fine dining restaurants are present in a 5min walking distance. Being located in the heart of the financial district in Makati, location is another positive for the hotel.

What I particularly liked was the attention to detail towards various processes that the hotel had. There were housekeeping checklists, a timely letter instructing about the amount due when closer to the check out date. Signatures where required for additional chairs kept in the room. Housekeeping had found my locker open and they immediately conducted an inventory check and changed the passcode. If the door was not closed at night, security would call the room to enquire. If heading out late at night, you would get a small note with emergency details of the police, fire brigade, etc. Such eye for detail and care for the guest help the hotel to stand out.

Only few minor cons, would appreciate if housekeeping didn't knock on the door at 9am on weekends enquiring for laundry as I like to tuck-in late on weekends. There was also a small confusion with regards to my laundry on my last weekend. As it happened, the housekeeping staff had not yet handed over the laundry to the laundry personnel, thus creating the confusion.

Excellent stay and will be sure to go back the next time I am in Manila

Room Tip: The view from behind the hotel is pretty neat. You can see tall skyscrapers that don't block your view and houses beyond.

Dear GauthamGirishankar,

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of Citadines Salcedo Makati! As you point out your positive remarks on the attention to details, so are we overwhelmed by your very detailed review. Since we are only a year old in the market and the first Citadines serviced apartment in the Philippines, a review such as yours is a very powerful tool in letting people know about who we are and what we do, and what differentiates us.

That being said, we do apologize for the issues with laundry and thank you for your suggestion on the Housekeeping check in weekends.

I di hope you find yourself back in the Philippines soon and we warmly welcome you back here, in your home in Manila.

Sincerely,

Susan Salcedo

Of all the cities I visit in the world the one I have most issues with TA reviews in - is Manila.

Be clear this a well run mid range apartment hotel within the large Ascott Group. It is new, equipped to a decent standard - but on the evidence of this stay another Manila hotel with average house keeping standards.

For

Usually reasonably priced
Clean and functional - best for longer stays, which is what it is designed for, and whose users seem to be regular enthusiastic reviewers
Location is safe. It is in The CBD with some genuinely good and innovative local restaurants that open in to the evenings.
Staff are charming. BUT staff in all hotels in The Philippines are charming. Take it as a given.

Against

* Sorry but it is a poor tourist location. It is a 10 minute plus walk across Ayala Triangle to get to The Greenbelt area. It is a hot, sticky and often wet walk. and in the evenings the pedestrian underpass closes, necessitating navigating a wide busy road. The taxi route is ridiculously circuitous - albeit very cheap.
* Fittings are not remotely 5*. Very adequate3*+ but likely to age quickly
* Liquid soap and bulk all-in-one conditioner from a dispenser.
* the studio suite is really small by Manila standards. For the small price difference it is bad value even at privileged rates - especially considering location - stay at The Ascott or one of the many new aparthotels in Legaspi Village
* only the 2 bed suites have washer/dryers. It has a laundry area but the pricing is ridiculous - probably cheaper to use the Dry Cleaner/Laundry opposite the hotel!
* unacceptable communication standards to requests for information sent prior to the stay. This is a consistent problem in The Philippines - if the answer doesn't fit in the easy box they just ignore it until you have to shout!

I have reviewed several Manila hotels and stayed in many more. Pleasant but only 3* on a price qualty evaluation. I wouldn't pay more than 3,000 pesos ++ for the studio room.

Room Tip: Learn the walking route to Greenbelt if a Tourist

Dear Carbine,

Thank you for your in depth review of Citadines Salcedo Makati and we appreciate your candor. For guests who are looking to be near the malls of Makati, it is true that we are not centrally located and there are other hotels near that area. However, we'd like to think that some guests would prefer a quiet location, within a residential area that have unique restaurants located only in Salcedo Village.

Apologies for issues arising regarding communication. While being "charming" is nice, efficiency on many levels is also very important - thank you for pointing this out.

We thank you for your patronage, and although we may not likely see you again due to your location preference, we do hope that when you need some quiet from the busy area, you will still keep us in mind.

Sincerely,

Susan Salcedo

I stayed here for 4 months while working in Makati. Great staff that are so helpful and friendly. They really add a personal touch. I returned recently and had a fruit bowl and a personal note left in my room upon check in. This was a really nice touch.

Good spot in Makati. Really comfy bed, very clean and modern rooms. I stayed in a two bed, one bed and also studio during my stay. Best option was the one bed, was nice to have a separate living space.

Pool and gym are small but as this is more of a business location it doesn't get too busy.

Breakfast is ok but the options become a bit repetitive if you stay long term. This is not buffet style like most other hotels.

I would highly recommend staying here and want to thank the staff for a great stay.

Dear LadyPhilli,

Thank you for posting a review on your recent stay with us and we'll definitely give the team a shout out for the kind words you have for them. We're passionate about customer service and we appreciate it when our guests recognize our efforts.

Due to the limited space, we cannot offer a buffet breakfast but rest assured we are continuously working with our restaurant concessionaire to give more options for our guest, especially those who stay with us long term.

Once again, our deepest appreciation and we hope you come back soon!

Sincerely,

Susan Salcedo
