My husband and I stayed here for our 1 year anniversary, for 4 nights (followed by a week in Boracay).
We were pleasantly surprised as the room was spacious, with a nice bed and nice sized ensuite. The room also had a large window with a great city view.
The location was perfect, as it was in a quiet street but only 2 minutes walk to Greenbelt.

Greenbelt was a great shopping centre with lots of high end stores, and great restaurants abd bars!

I recommend for tourist to do the city tour, to learn a little history about the Philippines - and visit Intramuros. We only spent 4 nights in Manila and felt it wasn't enough! But we were glad we fit in the city tour which only took 3 hours but was very informative.

For shopping, Mall of Asia is a must see attraction. And Greenhills is great for market style / bargain shopping.

We would definitely plan another trip to Philippines, and consider booking this hotel again!!

Room Tip: Higher floors would have a better view I guess! We were on level 15, and my mum and aunties were on...

The hotel is nicely located, close to the greenbelt, so if you do not know Manila it is very easy to find restaurants and shops. The hotel room was spacious (we had a 2 bedroom suite). Furniture does not really look like the pictures you see on their website. The kitchen had several broken doors and/or drawers. The service was professional but not very friendly. Breakfast was included for 2 persons but they charge you 500 pesos for an additional person which we found very expensive for the quality of thee breakfast. Nothing fancy, even basic. We stayed on the 12th floor which is close to the swimming pool. This pool has a sort of fountain which starts to work at 7 am and provokes a lot of noise. If you arrive late and you want to sleep longer, forget this as the windows have no double glass and are badly isolated.
The day we left we wanted to order a taxi BUT they only offer transportation of the hotel. They did not want to call for a taxi As we asked for the price of the hotel transportation, the rate changed every time. They started with 1200 pesos and ended at 2400 pesos!!!! We paid 400 pesos from the airport to the hotel. We finally walked out of the hotel and took one of the taxis who passed the hotel. Would not stay again here.

Room Tip: higher rooms have less noise. arrange your own transportation and have breakfast at the greenbelt re...

Pros: easy walking distance to PBCom Tower and other biz destinations. Convenient to malls, restaurants, and supermarkets. Very secure building and quiet (for Manila) neighborhood. One bedroom apartment was spacious. Friendly and attentive staff, especially the houseboys. Breakfast was ample and adequate.

Cons: the two different apartments we stayed in were both a bit worn, with carpet fraying in the corners, and cheap appliances/fittings in the kitchenette. No big deal if we were paying Filipino rates, but at American prices I expect better. And the add-on cost of wifi access for our two laptops was utterly outrageous.

As a seasoned traveler, I should've learned by now not to trust one bit of professional photography on hotel sites. But here I am, once again fell into the trap of this low level mistakes. The moment when I step into the hotel room, I know that I've been tricked by the photos, the differences is so huge it is comparable to McDonald's Big Mac, the "ideal" photo on the menu vs the reality you're getting. Unless you got yourself a good corporate rate, this place is way over priced.

Location:

Great for me. It is only a 2 mins walk from the famous Greenbelt Mall with all the shops that needed to bankrupt me as I was travelling as a couples. Makati is close to the airport, taking the skyway will avoid most of the traffic jam too. There was an Mini-Stop (convenient store) to the immediate opposite of the hotel and the area is general quiet and safe.

Security:

Makati is one of the better district in Manila in terms of safety, so there are not much to concern. But there are a number of prostitutes looming around the street outside of the hotel looking for business after 11 at night, and this get pretty annoying as they'll approach pretty much every single male that walks alone.

As Somerset is a service apartment, this place is filled with lonely soul working abroad and they needed some kind of sexual balance for themselves, there was quite a few prostitute who got businesses with guests in this place just sit in the lobby or wonder around the hotel while waiting for the man they'll be serving. The hotel staff can't do anything about it as they were the guests' "friends"

Services:

Everything is alright, staffs were friendly but a bit slow.

Rooms and Hotel Facility, Dinning:

The room I was in is in a desperate need of renovation, well no, the entire hotel is in a desperate need of renovation, it was no where near the 4 star standard it promoted. The room itself is huge for a few night stay, it comes with a small kitchen which is always nice as I could prepare my own breakfast. The free complimentary breakfast was crap, skip it if you could. The other thing was I could never get the free complimentary internet working in my 3 nights stay here, it either wouldn't connect or I couldn't get pass the password page; called multiple time to seek assistant and everyone failed to provide solution.

There is also a small pool and gym room for your enjoyment and it wasn't bad. Free parking is available to guests who will be driving.

Cleanliness:

This place is okay when it comes to cleanliness, not great. Don't come and expect everything sparkling shinny, the pictures were photoshopped!

Others:

1) be reminded if you book directly with their website, the price that shown in your confirmation letter does not include the 12% VAT, 10% Service Charge and 3% Hotel Tax; and when you book through their website, nowhere does it say how much these charges actually are, I found this a bit of false advertising.

2) Would I recommend this hotel? Probably not, with the price paid you could end up in places like Intercon for slightly more.

3) Value for money? NO

Stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be perfectly located in a quiet street less than 5 minutes walk from Greenbelt, where you'll find a great choice of shops and restaurants.
Security was excellent and I felt safe here 24/7.
There is a very well stocked supermarket at Greenbelt 1 and a 24 hour convenience store right across the street, so no need to order the rather pricy hotel room service.

My standard room was very large equipped with a flat screen TV, good sized fridge, microwave and crockery. (no bottle or can opener though!) There was no hot plate/ stove, so better check which rooms do have one if this is a requirement. Coffee, sugar, creamer and bottled water were refilled daily.

Huge bathroom with a tub and some complimentary toiletries.
Plenty of storage space and sockets; adaptors for european appliances were available from the front desk .
Internet wasn't free but there's an internet cafe on the first floor of Greenbelt (open until approx 10.30pm every day) or purchase a prepaid Globe or Smart internet stick to use in the room.
Only quibble I had was that the lampshades were quite dusty and the toilet paper was not replenished on a couple of occasions.

Breakfast was adequate with scrambled eggs, selection of fruit juice, fresh fruit, cereals, white and brown bread and some Asian choices too - but only served until 10.00am (11.00 on weekends).

Staff were all very helpful and friendly, especially the bell boys and Sean at front desk. Small pocket maps of the area are available, just ask!
I didn't use the pool, gym or laundry (all open until 10pm), but the entire area appeared very clean and well kept.

I chose this hotel mainly because of the location and kitchenette.
Sure you can find a cheaper place to stay, but some of the other hotels in a similar or lower price range are on busy roads and lack the amenities.
I consider the Somerset Millenium an excellent choice especially for those new to the area and seeking some peace and quiet. I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again.
