First I would like to point out the positives. Good and courteous staffs, well secured as it has its own gate and fair facilities.
The bad?
- No wifi connection in all of their rooms, you have to bring your own LAN cable or wireless router to connect to their internet, or you have to go to the lobby to get the wifi signal. On my next visit, they already provided me a wireless router and that is because I complained on my first visit.
- No outlets beside your bed so you have to stand and go to the desk or TV to charge your phone or laptop.
-Shampoo and soap smells the same, so better bring your own toiletries
- Location - you have to bring your own car if you want to outside late at night. You cant just walk outside as its too and there are not a lot of taxis roaming.
- TOO EXPENSIVE ! Published rate is Php 7200 which is the same amount you need to get a 2 or 3 night stay in a decent hotel in Manila. Corporate rate gets you a significant discount but still expensive. I haven't asked this to them but if you have another person staying with you, you have to pay an extra Php 1500 so basically rooms are good for 1 person only even if its 2 bed. This is the only good hotel in Batangas city...unfortunately....

Room Tip: Bring your own car and wireless router

Booked a Premium Room from Jan. 28 to 29 to attend a wedding. Had an enjoyable stay, although there was some confusion over extra beds for our daughters. The receptionist (Grace) and all the other staff were courteous and welcoming. Our room was spacious and had good AC, a flatscreen TV with cable, a coffee maker, and a minibar. Bathroom amenities were OK, but only 2 pieces of each consumable (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc.) were provided although we paid for 4 adults.

Buffet breakfast the next morning was very good, there were several options including garlic rice, scrambled eggs, pasta Alfredo, meat loaf, dried fish, pancakes, three different kinds of bread, pancit, and so forth. We had fun swimming, too! Towels are provided for swimmers.

All in all we had a great time and would be happy to come back.

Unfortunately this is the only good hotel in Batangas City.
The twin rooms are quite big but interiors, set up and lightings are really old styled already.
Bathroom really needs renovation and cleaning. It's no advisable to use the bath tub! The lights are ao dim that you can't hardly see yourself when you are doing make up.
Towels looks old. There are no other restaurant but the lobby.

Process of checking out is not so smooth.

This hotel is fully booked during peak season (holy week, christmas and new year). But is ok during the rest of the year.

Suggest you try airbnb in Batangas City or book the suite rooms for better experience.

The good. , great friendly staff, large rooms , comfy beds.
The bad, bathroom in desperate need of upgrade , felt like motel 6 in the 90's
, big venue for local weddings etc so be ready for loud ongoing microphone checks at 6.35am .
The ugly Food , while great serving staff they are let down by a poor kitchen that could start with a new exec chef

I live overseas but was visiting family in a nearby town. We wanted to have a staycation with family while shopping at SM Batangas to avoid the usual bad traffic. We wanted to get the best accommodation Batangas City has to offer based on the reviews and hotel offerings, so we were set on one hotel only, Hotel Pontefino. But we were bitterly disappointed just on our first night. After checking in, we went up to our room on the fourth floor and unpacked our bags. As we were about to leave our room, we heard loud sounds coming from the nearby Malvar tent on the ground floor next to the pool, so I asked reception before we left if there was an event that night and how long it was going to last for. The receptionist informed me it would be till midnight. I would have appreciated it if we were informed earlier, perhaps during the check-in process, that there was indeed an event that night, finding it a bit inconvenient that we need to pack our bags again and move. My husband and I thought we could wing it and just have our headphones on to deal with the noise. It also doesn't help that they have tiled floor, instead of carpet.

Upon our return from SM, we were welcomed by the loud noise from the tent, so I called reception and asked for a possible solution. They offered us to be moved to a room on the opposite wing, which we accepted. They were kind enough to upgrade our room as well.

So on the positive side:
1) Super comfortable beds
2) Friendly staff
3) Nice, warm and strong pressure showers.
4) Nice looking pool, though we didn't swim because it was raining and the pool is NOT heated.

However, overall, the detail is where it's at.

1) In the premium room (our original room), the bathroom/toilet gave off a ghastly smell, which I can't really explain and don't want to imagine what the origin would have been.

2) Still in the premium room, the bathroom didn't have any power point for small appliances such as a blow dryer (which they also didn't have on hand, you have to request it).

3) The mini bar didn't have anything in it. (you have to ask)

4) Room service: not all items were available. No fries available even though it's supposed to be included in one of the dishes we ordered.

5) Breakfast was ghastly. The buffet spread looked miserable. The entire buffet only had this: steamed rice, omelette, pancit, chicken wings, bread, cereal, fruits, coffee. Fresh fruits was not fresh; they were obviously from a can of fruit cocktail. Bread was stale. The very few cereal was stale and chewy. No milk readily available on the table, you have to ask, and when it comes, it is presented in the smallest jug. One kind of jam available. It didn't look like a breakfast buffet you would expect from a 4-star hotel. We did have have the option to order from the menu, but again, not everything was available.

Overall, I probably would not stay here again. It's sad but the managers need to benchmark from other 4-star hotels in Metro Manila if they want to improve customers' experience with them.

Suggestions:
1) Improve breakfast buffet...tremendously.
2) Install wall to wall carpets to help with the soundproofing of the rooms.
3) Soundproof Malvar Tent or have noise-cancelling systems.
