“Pleasant Stay and Wonderful Hotel Staff”
Reviewed 23 June 2012

My son and I stayed at the Golden Pine Hotel on our first two nights in Baguio City. We checked out because we went out of town and when we went back to Baguio we tried the other hotel. Well, that other hotel nearby was a disappointment. So, after our trip to Ilocos Sur, we went back to Baguio and decided to give our business again to Golden Pine for the remainder of our stay in the city. We had our family reunion in the ballroom because our original plans at a restaurant fell through. It was almost midnight when I informed the staff about the need for a place for the reunion the next day; the hotel restaurant workers worked quickly and had the party room ready the same night. Charles, the hotel event planner, took care of the menu and the excellent food was ready for the reunion the next day. My appreciation to Charles and his crew who handled the party professionally and our thanks to Mark Dexter S. R. and all the front desk staff who took care of our stay from 5/29/2012 - 6/7/2012. You are all great people. By the way, security guards are courteous, they are always ready to help, such opening the taxi, calling taxi and have the umbrella when it is raining. Thank you all for making our vacation to the Philippines pleasant and memorable one. God Bless You All!! Sincerely- Nelia Springfield

The GOOD:

All the staffs were very friendly, very accomodating to our every needs, very helpful carrying our bags and respectful.
-The guards in front of the building opened our taxi's doors for us, had umbrellas waiting when it was raining, opened the building's doors; We felt special :)

The suite we stayed in was clean
-Everyday they changed our sheets, our towels, replaced the soaps, shampoos and toothbrushes and cleaned the bathtub.

Free breakfast!
- They served a good proportion of food. You either pick from American Breakfast which does not include pancakes :( or Filipino Breakfast: Tocino, Longanisa or Bangus served with garlic rice and egg.

The BAD:

The night we got to our suite: the sheets smelled like it hasnt been changed for a long time (old smell)

Hot water turns cold out of nowhere then hot again. Not fun.
-Water does not get hot enough for a relaxing soak in the tub (gets pretty warm just not enough)

The shower curtain smelled of stinky feet (from not drying it completely before storing) - which they changed right away

The noise outside you can hear inside; the sound of speeding vehicles and horns (apparently everyone and their mother like to use the horns in their vehicle in this country) :( bring ear plugs.

No jacuzzi or pool :(

All in all the suite cannot be compared to a 5 star hotel. I would rate it 3 since the only thing updated in the room is the TV but the accomodation of the staff made me rate this hotel a 4 star :)

This is our second hotel during our stay in Baguio, and the place is nice. We stayed at the hotel Penthouse and I can say that the room is good for couples but not for groups (the pull out bed is not comfortable). But the veranda has one of the best views of the city.

However, the food was great in their lobby restaurant - the best were Bulalo, inihaw na bangus, complimentary breakfasts and hot choco. The side veggies in the main dishes were big servings as well.

The hotel hallway is fully carpeted with CCTV cameras and routers in every corner, though the wifi connection is slow. I hope that it has the same ambiance in the rooms (which only has carpet rugs).

The staff are nice and very accommodating and courteous. Even those in their restaurant.

Of all hotels that I have stayed, this is the only one that has charged us P100 for the 2 bottled water in the fridge when we checked out (which I know is supposed to be complimentary).

We always go to Baguio during the Christmas holidays to savor the cool weather and always make it a point to stay at this hotel.. Its has good location and nice rooms with good views from windows. The lobby is simple & staff were helpful, reservation can be done in advance with no problems. Our last stay was Dec. 2010

The famed Session Road is just minutes away, either by foot (you have to walk around the outskirts of Burnham Park though) or thru Taxi or Public transport. The hotel has an elevator so going up a higher floored room is no problem. There are also restaurants near and across the hotel so eating out is no problem. Room Service was also good. Request for a room facing the front of the hotel to get a good street view.
