We spent one night in Walvis Bay and stayed at the Oysterbox. The view was lovely and the rooms had the basics. There was no tea or coffee station in the room and the DSTV had the basic restaurant package of 5 channels. We requested a partial sea-facing room but it was located under the stairs with no sea view and was very damp. Given the rates we paid, the units didn’t meet the market-related standards.

This place is amazing, the service is amazing, the raft restaurant is close to it, literally a walk away and the lagoon is a mesmerizing sight, u can view flamingos and some other birds in the morning as well as take some beautiful pictures there. The staff is friendly and top service i would recommend it.

We selected Oyster Box because it was reasonably priced and located close to the lagoon where we hoped to see flamingos and other birds which we did in plenty.
The Manager at the guest house was very helpful and did all he could to make our stay comfortable. However, somethings he could not fix and we hope the owners will attend to these defects - the plumbing needs to be looked in to and the heating did not work in one of the rooms. He gave an oil heater which also did not work! It was pretty cold and uncomfortable in that room as a result. There is also the issue of not having off-street parking for all when guest house is full like when we were there.
We had dinner at the Raft across the road - the best service and meal we had in Namibia! Breakfast was OK but we had to ask for cutlery and some plates did not look clean.

Room tip: ask for sea facing room

Lovely clean rooms, and a good location for some of the better restaurants and tour companies in the area. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant. Breakfast is offered in an area overlooking the sea which is lovely, and the food is good (fruit, bread, continental breakfast, freshly made eggs). It’s possible to leave cars in the off-road enclosed parking area even after you have checked out which is very handy.

Poor. Poor service. Solid wood bed frame is 3 inches longer than the mattress - toes and shins very sore!! Room smells miffy. Dirty tea and coffee cups left in the room AFTER room cleaning. Bacon and eggs (see photo) looks so unappetizing! Saucer used as a plate and plates used as a saucer. Sitting in lounge in evening listening to the calm music (a sole plus point) accompanied by the banging and clanging of pots and pans in the kitchen. Great location spoiled by terrible service. The Wimpy serves superior breakfasts. Food really not good, wet towels ... did we mention bad service? Except for the manager guy that tried and was friendly.
