A delightful and relaxing stay in the country side, thanks to wonderful hosts/owners - Jean-Pierre and Dominique - and their fabulous team who prepare delicious local cuisine and care for the magnificent camels on site. This guest house is excellent value for its high standard, and it offers all the necessary services (pool, massage treatments, camel rides, balconies, fireplaces and lounge areas) to ensure a very relaxing stay. We were surprised about the location when we had to take a taxi (150 dirhams one way) 20 km south of Essaouira, but J-P & Dominique do everything to make it easy for you to get there (facilitating taxi pick up or doing it themselves) and make you feel very at home. WBy the way, these Camels from Mali are very different to the Moroccan one’s you will see elsewhere in the country. They are larger, more majestic and disciplined. Jean-Pierre has equipped them with horse saddles, so they are very comfortable to ride - this really was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Don’t let any previously painful or bad camel riding experiences put you off, because this was something else! Staying here was a perfect way to be near to the charming town of Essaouira and also enjoying the Argan tree landscape and living amongst local communities. I would definitely recommend stopping by La Maison du Chameaux!

Perfect .My children took me here for my 50th birthday .I saw the place on line ,my daughter in particular was not keen at first thinking it would be a scruffy camel farm,It was in fact the most luxurious peaceful place I have stayed in. Outside are camel donkeys & tortoise & a lovely pool We were made very welcome.one afternoon Jean Pierre took us to the ruins of a 14th century sugar refinery in the middle of nowhere. The only drawback for some may be the time it took to drive into town {Essaouira}.The building has been beautifully restored /the furniture simple and comfortable.I hope to go back soon.

Room Tip: we had 3 rooms mine was the best with 2 balconies looking east & west with south facing windows...

This was the perfect antidote to the overwhelming crush of Marrakech. It's really hard not to relax in such a peaceful spot, surrounded by so much natural beauty. Our hosts, Jean Pierre and Dominique, took wonderful care of us. Their good humoured hospitality managed to get through grumpiness of my teenager - no mean feat! Definitely coming back here.

I had the most wonderful stay at La Maison du Chameau with the unbelievable kind owners Jean-Pierre and Dominique! I was picked up in Essaouira by JP in their jeep. The journey on the narrow roads and dirt road was in itself a breathtaking experience. Make sure you have a good heartcondition before taking on this drive (LOL). I loved the building, my room with a balcony, the excellent food they themselves cooked, the clean and refreshing pool, and above all I just loved the camels! I went for two rides during my two days stay. The one ride to the old irrigation complex's ruins was fantastic because of the feeling of being out in the wilderness.). Their employees were all very kind and happy. Working for such nice people as Dominique and JP must be a pleasure. I will recommend everybody going to Marrakech or Essaouira to stay a day or two or more in this wonderful guesthouse!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a mountain view and you will probably get a room on the second floor. Very nice...
