Quite a long journey going up there. Anna Rais is one of the well-known tourist spot for long house visit. The best time to visit is during Gawai festival because that time you can experience the culture and enjoyable moment during Gawai festival from dancing, music, house visit, traditional costumes and etc.

I spent 2 days and 2 nights with Edward, my host. We hiked to the hot springs where Siti made lunch. The next day we hiked to a waterfall. We had encounters w leeches both days. Siti cooked lunch the 2nd day using freshly cut bamboo from the rainforest. In the evening we participated in the traditional eagle and farewell dance with the local women. This experience may not be for everyone but if you like adventure and are willing to rough it this may be a great experience. This is one of several adventures i had in Malaysia that I will remember!

I think Sabah Borneo long house in Kudat much better than this...practically this place not a traditional long house anymore as it has been modernise with modern house (see pics..new concrete house, TV channel transmitter-Astro in front of the staircase) The only traditional & cultural is the staircase in front of the long house with the long wide floor bamboo in front of the house. Not recommend to visit as it took 1 & half hrs to get there (boring inside car) & reach there with disappointment. The front long house need serious cleanliness..rubbish everywhere..maintenance keep it classic to show the preserved authentic ever Bidayuh long house. Hope it won't lost to modernise era.

Once we arrived,we were greated by Joseph, a local guide in the village. He explained well about the history and the life style of the Bidayuh. We tried 'tuak', rice wine which taste good.Joseph also provides homestay in his house. The people are friendly and we had our lunch in the village, trying their food. One must try their tapioca cracker...yummy.
