Good place to bring the kids if you have, nice to relax and have a dip in the hot spring. Don’t forget to bring swimming clothes. Place is quite big for a big group.

we did not go for the hot springs, which looked fine and plentiful to us, some had roofs. The butterfly open area was full of flowers in bloom and butterflies, and there was an enclosed area with butterflies. pay to enter butterfly AND canopy walk, Canopy walk only allows 6 on each leg, which was fun to walk on (a little scary) with great views. (don't forget to look around). we also walked to close waterfall and soaked our feet. Went to the orchid gardens, which are a far walk up a paved road, and to the ethno gardens, both were pleasant. There is a Visitor Center with excellent information. bathrooms. Several roadside stands just outside gate entrance to buy food/drinks.
we enjoyed our time there.

We went here as part of an all day trip that included Kinabalu National Park. It's quite a distance from the park, about 45 mins on top of an already long day....
The canopy walkway was the best part, very high and swinging as you walk across. Enjoyed that. The trail to the waterfall was pleasant as was the waterfall. (You pass a well presented small garden on this route).
The hot springs themselves were a bit of a disappointment, this was a Thursday afternoon in March and it was very busy.... Must be mobbed at weekends and public holidays. !!!
It all looked rather chaotic and contrived.... we never got a chance to use the springs as time was too short and to be truthful I'm not sure we would have used them even if time permitted....
In summary, I'm not sure it's worth all the effort to get there. Better to spend longer at the National Park as its well laid out with trails and you could spend all day there instead.

(Journey back to KK is three hours from the hot springs or just over two hours from the national park).

The pools take a very long time to fill up and sometimes they leak water at such a rate you just sit in a warm puddle for ages. There were people there smoking which was a bit annoying and some men who stare which is always a bit off putting. I don’t think I would recommend driving for 3 hours from KK just for this. The canopy walk way is good if you can go at quiet times when there isn’t a bunch of shouting tourists.

There is nothing natural about these 'hot springs' as they had been converted into concrete spas and added to the Chinese mass tourism trails, getting bombarded by 10 bus loads of tourists - every day! Beyond the Hot Springs is nicer - the butterfly garden, canopy walk, and the extended trail to Langangan Waterfall - long but worth the view! I suggest to stay nearby Kinabalu Park Headquarters or Kundasang where you have access to nicer forests and more biodiversity.
