We came to Malaysia for a family holiday and stayed here at the Pacific Sutera Resort. We’d last visited a few years ago and in many ways nothing’s changed - and that’s the problem. The hotel is over 20yrs old and it shows. The rooms are in desperate need of a refresh.

When we arrived we were whisked up to the 11th floor for checkin to the Pacific Club. The staff were fantastic - the room however while huge wasn’t what we had seen online. However once a suitable room (still nothing like what they show online on their own website) was found, we settled in. The room carpet had been washed before we arrived and the floor was still just damp and had that “cleaning” smell. We ended up running the aircon on its lowest setting to get air and coolness into the room. One thing great about this hotel is the aircon - they work :)

We had a Pacific Club room, and that was awesome. We spent a few nights watching sunsets from the club rooms - enjoying drinks and nibbles. Breakfast each morning was here too, with a range of fruit, pastries, Asian breakfast or eggs anyway you like. Again the staff here were awesome.

The pool and neighbouring resort/health club pools are awesome - although they all need resurfacing. The tiles are often cracked & there are some very rough spots where concrete has been used to replaced missing tiles. Still the kids had a blast.

Sadly at night the place turns into a “night club” - there is nothing but booming bass and doof-doof music from 7pm through 11pm every night. The last night was so loud in our room (on the 10th floor) I was actually looking for ear plugs.

Close to Imago mall, the city, the airport, the water sports - it could be amazing, sadly The Pacific Sutera has lost its shine as a luxury resort.

Dear Keran M,

Thank you for taking the time in sharing your recent experience while staying at The Pacific Sutera Harbour. We are happy to learn that you were very well taken care of by our team, in particularly at our club floor. I couldn't agree with you more that we are extremely blessed to have them with us.

Your comment about the tired looking facilities has been very well received, hence, we are proud to announce that we are undergoing a stage of refurbishments to give this 20 years old building a face-lift. Your kind support and patience are highly valued as we strive to provide the best facilities for the comfort of our guest's stays.

Nevertheless, thank you so much for your valuable feedback and we do hope to be welcoming you back soon.

Best Regards,
The Management

Always been a regular customer at Tariks when we visit Sabah. We always come back for the cocktails specifically for their gin and tonic. This is one of the many places that serve gin and tonic with Schweppes tonic water. However today our tonic water is replaced with Evervess tonic water, which is a disappointment due to the quality not being anywhere near Schweppes tonic water. Please note that Evervess tonic water will never be replaced as Schweppes. This will probably change our mind to make Tariks our regular hangout place for cocktails. Lots of love to the staffers at Tariks, they are always friendly and hardworking. It's a shame if we have to stop going to tariks down to the choice of tonic water. Bring back my Schweppes pls!

We stayed as a couple at this hotel as part of a trip to Borneo on a B & B basis. The location is good, next to the harbour area and what I can only assume is a small man made beach whilst next door is a very large golf course. We previously stayed at this hotel in 2003 and there was a noticeable difference. Although our room was spacious and comfortable is was showing signs of needed a refresh as was the hotel in general. The ocean area also needed some attention as on a number of days the beach was covered in bottles and plastic that had clearly washed up from the sea. The pool area was is a good size with a swim up bar which was ok in the afternoon but very busy each morning. Breakfast was normal buffet style and suited our requirements. However the lunch and dinner menus didn't offer any great variety from one day to another, as such after a couple of days we used the sister hotel next door where choice was vastly improved.

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony over looking either the Golf Course or Pool area are best

Stayed here for a 3 days 4 nights and it was indeed a peaceful getaway! The view from restaurant is great as well as from the bar beside the pool since it's near a beach. The fire dancer at night is quite entertaining but I would say not the best. They offer lots of options at their Breakfast buffet and food tastes great! It is a secluded hotel with golf zone thus it is a great place to jog or if you are not fun of the scorching sun you can use the hotel gym. It is far from the market place but you can take a cab from the hotel which only cost between 5-10 ringgit. You can also choose to take a boat from the hotel port which is fun and can reached the market and nearby hotel in just a couple of minutes but mind you it is too expensive! I would stay here again if I ever visit Kota Kinabalu and wanting a peaceful and quiet environment!
