Everything in the hotel is perfect and service is excellent.
Please do something on the sound generated on the Lake, the company or whatever owner of the machines should shut the machine down at night. We cannot sleep at all at night as the sharp and loud annoying sound from the Lake.

Dear DS_BTL

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback following your recent stay at The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands.
Feedback is always greatly appreciated and helps us to constantly strive to improve our services.
We are delighted to know you have enjoyed the hotel and the service during your stay.

With regards to the ongoing works at the lake, we do apologize that it had disturbed your stay. We have been in contact with the company who are doing the works and unfortunately due to the rainy season there is an urgency for them to carry out the works as it will cause the lake to overflow the dam which will affect the Bertam Valley village. This is really a "Catch 22 " situation for us as we do not want a repeat of the "flood" disaster which happened 3 years ago to re-occur to the residents there.

I very much regret the inconvenience you experienced and sincerely hope that this did not mar your overall opinion of the hotel and that it will not deter you from returning and staying with us on your future visits.

Kind regards
Lena Wee

Conveniently placed hotel. Very traditional, quaint English colonial style. Needs a make-over and a deep clean. Food is OK, but not gourmet, very traditional and old fashioned cuisine. Food and drink is a bit on the high cost side. An OK place to stay in the Highlands. The Service was extremely good most of the time. Can arrange car and driver and pick ups at all times.

Room Tip: Ask for a Lake view.

Ratsears,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write this review and your feedback is very much appreciated.

We do invest annually to preserve the quality and maintenance of the building for our guests to have a genuine experience during their stay. The style and concept of the hotel has been intentionally created to give it the "old" look.

Thank you for your comments on the food, we have noted and will discuss with our team to look into areas where we can further enhance the selection. However, our prices are considerably cheaper than other properties in the Highlands within the same category.

We are however delighted to know that you have enjoyed the hotel on the overall and it was a pleasure having you stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

Kind regards

The property is perhaps one of the best preserved British themed retreats in Malaysia! The Lakehouse boasts Tudor architecture and has a great colonial era feel to it! The local service staff are well trained and demonstrates very helpful service attitude towards guests. Furniture inside the property are of good antique value. It also has a lovely well kept garden with a myriad of flowers and herbs growing around it.

The property only consists 19 guest rooms and is suitable for those seeking a more private and exclusive retreat while avoiding the herds of local tourists overflooding the Cameron Highlands.

The only big downside to this property is the noisy 24 hour dredging in the nearby lake located just opposite the property. The dredging which is to remove tonnes of silt buried in the lake as a result of years of deforestation-caused soil erosion in the Cameron Highlands generates loud noise which is disturbing the supposedly peaceful and tranquil setting by the lakeside. Those who are light sleepers might have difficulty getting a good night's sleep as the noise can be heard from inside the rooms. Also, depending on the direction the wind is blowing, the dredger fumes may end up being blown towards the Lakehouse resulting in choking exhaust smoke smell at times, marring what is supposedly fresh mountain air.

Dear mringkeith,

Thank you for your detailed review highlighting every aspect and areas of the hotel and we are pleased that you appreciate it. Certainly this will be helpful information for our future guests on what they can expect from us.

We appreciated your understanding on the noisy work from the lake and regrettable, development activities on the Highlands has caused erosion which has effected the condition of the lake in front of the hotel which is beyond our control.

Thank you once again for choosing The Lakehouse and sharing your stay experience on TripAdvisor and we look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

Kind regards
Rita Francis

Dear thavarajahk,
Thank you for choosing The Lakehouse and we appreciate your feedback.
We noted your concern of our carpet and you would be pleased to know that we have planned for a refurbishment next year which includes changing of carpets in our guest rooms and lobby area.

Appreciate your comments on the sambal for nasi lemak and have brought it up to the attention of our chef for improvement.

With regards to the food prices, we have actually reduced the price on our menu items recently, and we are now less expensive than other options in the same category offering similar dining experience through Cameron Highlands.
Once again we thank you for taking the time to write this review and we sincerely look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Kind regards

Spent a night in this hotel in Nov 2016. Expected this hotel to offer a cosy stay as it is member of Hard Rock hotel chain. However, it turns out to be a little too strange a feel. Furniture are aging. Did not have the peace in mind staying in here, at times a little creepy. Probably the whole set of hotel was made to feel Tudorish kind. Appreciate the friendly staffs though.

Dear Awij10,
Thank you for staying with us and appreciate your feedback which we value very much.
With regards to your comment about the building, the hotel was built over a 4 year period from 1966 by an eccentric retired British Colonel Foster, and we do invest annually to preserve the quality and maintenance of the building for our guests to have a genuine experience during their stay. The style and concept of the hotel has been intentionally created to give it the "old" look.

Hard Rock hotels and The Lakehouse belong to the same group but we are categorised under the boutique collection and therefore we have different concept and I am sorry that out style is not what you expected.

However we are glad to know that you enjoyed our service and the friendliness of our staff and we look forward to welcoming you again should your travel plan brings you back to Cameron Highland.

Kind regards
Rita Francis
