Old styled (but quite nice) hotel that has many comfort for this region. I stayed there for 4 nights and it was the departure zone for many tours

Plus or minus depending on your needs:
- Be aware that the hotel is not located in the city; it's 10 min by car from Diego but has a wonderful view on the Pain de Sucre and the bay. Also, La Note Bleue is maybe less noisy than staying in Diego.

Plus:
- spacious rooms with all comfort (AC, minibar, safety box)
- very nice swimming pool and relax zone surrounding it (even though we didn't used it)
- nice staff and management
- I enjoyed the massage (especially after all the trekking and all the holes in the "paved" road that goes from Diego southern to Ankarana and Ambilobe). Very good masseuse but do not expect a real SPA

Minus:

- food was a negative surprise especially being managers Italians. Breakfast was poor but ok. We had dinner twice (the second time because we were really too tired, after all day long trip, to go to Diego): even though there is a wide choice, the quality is poor. We had fish and it was disgusting, the salad was ok, the moelleux au chocolat was a dried chocolate cake. We expected more from an Italian managed hotel.

- the check out time was difficult and long (30 min to checkout! all this without any problem on the amount of the bill but only due to technical problems!).
We wanted to pay by credit card but the machine had no signal. They told has that the signal was available only by the swimming pool, so we went there but still there was no signal. Finally, after several unsuccessful trials to get the signal, we had to pay cash and decided to pay in euros. They couldn’t give us the change in euros but only in ariary because the key of euro register was kept by a person who would have come only at 10 a.m. (it was 7 a.m.)!

This hotel is a Bit old and tired. It seems to rely on it's view rather than anything else but only the most expensive rooms really take full advantage of the view. We had a huge suite, but no real view and most of the room was wasted. The decor was somewhat eccentric with no unifying theme.
Location wise it is around three kilometers out of town.
The food was only OK and expensive by Madagascan standards
No wifi, but 3G Internet works in Diego if you have a sim card.
If we were going to Diego again we would stay up in the mountains at Domaine de Fontenay. But then again our main interest is in the wildlife and vegetation rather than wanting to see Diego itself

Room Tip: Jump up and down until you get upgraded to a room with a real view

This is a great hotel with good location and food. It is also a good place to anchor yourself when discovering Diego and its surrounding. Everything works fine, the hotel is clean with great views and a nice pool.

This was definitely the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Since tourism in Madagascar is a little slow at the moment, the owner was able to upgrade us to better rooms that opened up onto a huge living room with extra bathroom, shower and balcony.
The food and service were irreproachable.
