First time booking a vacation spot in Malindi and I was not disappointed with Sandies Village...this was the best decision we made!! The hotel is popular with the Italian crowd and we were probably the only African couple there for a few days before we were joined by others - this didn't dampen the spirit though, the Italians were all very friendly and easy going.

The rooms are fantastic, we stayed in the deluxe rooms and everything was amazing, from the air con, the fan, the decor, the amenities, the balcony overlooking one of the pools - it really gave us the relaxing feeling we were looking for.

The staff are very friendly, always smiling, very conversant with the both the local and international guests which was good to see. Zawadi was particularly helpful with our food and beverage orders - kudos to her!

We booked the holiday when there was not much occupancy at the hotel so we did not get to do the activities we saw on the board such as water aerobics and beach volleyball but this gave us a lot of time to catch up on some leisurely swimming and quiet time reading at the pool side.

The hotel does have its own private beach front property which has some nice clean sand and easy access to the ocean which was a plus.

Overall I loved the experience and this being my first time in Malindi I shall definitely be planning a 2nd and 3rd trip here again!

I could say so much more but I shall let the pictures speak for themselves!

Room Tip: 1. For better views book the rooms in the 200's and 300's series. The rooms in the 100's didn't have a good view of the pool or the ocean!

It was our first time in Malindi and I really liked the property. They have activities going on during the day like water aerobics, beach volley ball etc and some entertainment at night. We went on the 2nd week of December, so it wasn't too crowded. Rooms were good and spacious, but we got a room with the front door facing the main road. We weren't too happy about that, we thought it would be noisy from all the cars passing by, but it actually wasn't.

The food was really good and there was so much variety! Dessert options were many and also really good. We must have gained a few kilos!

The beach was not that great, full of sea weeds so we swam at the hotel pool which was nice as well.

Overall experience was good, but I don't think I will visit malindi again. I prefer South Coast, only because the beaches are way better.

The hotel is a high standard structure with the unique atmosphere that gives us that special feeling of Africa, palm roofs, wood, palms, flowers, beach and sea.
The resort is directly on the beach and you can choose between sunbathing beside the pool or on the beach, both served by the beach-bar that sometimes is left ... deserted, since one bar tender must serve drinks, wait on clients and restock the bar.
Here too, if you wish to take a bath you must contend with beach boys that can sometimes be particularly persistent, almost harassing, indeed to deter them beside the armed resort security, the public part of the beach (with access to the sea) is usually patrolled by the army. This is the reason I did not give 5 stars, because of beach boys.
Back to the resort, our room was spacious and fully equipped, with a beautiful veranda where you can relax and read a book on the pili pili couch and what can be called a bathing-room, enormous. We did not feel the need for a TV in our room, as we spent our evenings on the pili pili couches near the reception enjoying cold drinks and coffee, and use the free Wi-Fi connection, or if it was too hot, take them to our room where both air conditioned and ceiling fan made for a drier temperature.
From waiter to service everything is good even if extremely relaxed, pole pole indeed.

Good hotel, however few things are to correct. There was no AC in room, bathroom was a little be odd. It needs some refurbishment for sure.
The staff was nice and kind, very good animation team (Betty thank you for taking care of our kids).
One star less cause variety of food was not great. I was bored with breakfasts. Also I was i but dissatisfied with small choice of local food for dinner, especially we were there during Easter time and could be better.
We have also had our beach dinner with sea food from barbecue. Honestly speaking I was deeply disappointed, the lobster was so dry, overcooked. It made bad flavour for that evening, however the arrangement was very impressive.
In overall good hotel but not very good.
