This camp is on the southern edge of Amboseli National Park. It's a permanent camp and is set on a hillside. Our cabin was great, big comfortable bed, and a nice bathroom. The main part of the lodge sits up on top of the hill with an open lounge on one side and the restaurant on the other. Down the hill is a watering hole, frequented by gazelles, zebras, and one evening elephants. They have a vegetable garden and served fantastic salads with fresh from the garden ingredients.
The staff was very attentive and friendly, we felt very well taken care of. The assistant manager was often around and we enjoyed chatting with him about our surroundings.
One afternoon, in between safari outings, we had excellent massages, at a very reasonable price.

Thank you for taking the time to give our lodge a great review!

We are seeing many animals at the waterhole right now and even had an elephant and her calf here this morning, and we loved watching the interaction between them.

We welcome guests to visit our vegetable garden and of course enjoy the wonderful salads here. We have shared your kind comments with our team and hope you can return
to see us again one day.

Best Wishes from us all at Tortilis Camp

A very special place to arrive after a long drive from Nairobi. Tortilis is not your average tented camp. It has the feel of a boutique hotel with all of the charms of sleeping under canvas which I always find is a hard combination to get right.

Graeme and Candy have just taken over as the new managers and you can feel that they are putting Tortilis back on the rise to the top of its game.

We travelled with a 3 year old and the team were so very accommodating. From a kids menu to colouring books and toys elewana know how to keep kids happy!

Amboseli it's self doesn't need much said about it as it is exceptional. June is a great month to visit as the swamps are full of water and swimming elephant are everywhere! We will be back very soon.

A friend and I did a 10 day safari around Kenya in July 2017 with a private car/guide. I've worked in luxury hotels so I have rather high standards for my own travels.

During our trip, we found all the staff at each of our hotels extremely personable and friendly.

Due to a tour operator error, our stay was cut short from 2 night to 1.... but this place is gorgeous.

Wifi works everywhere - which was awesome for catching up on the real world after a week of safari-ing.

Tents were gorgeous!

The hot water bottles in bed at night were sublime. And the port in the room was a lovely night cap while star gazing. Food was great. And they also always offered a vegetarian option.

Laundry was free although we didn't have time to get any done with our mix up and early check out.

Views from the main building are unparalleled.

Luxury safari clamping at its best.

People come to Amboseli primarily for the elephants and the occasional view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. We saw an amazing variety of wildlife and had the good luck to see Kili half the time. The tents were luxurious, if slightly too close to each other, and the common areas were first rate. Our hosts, from managers to general staff, were wonderful, and our guide, Alex, seemed to have the animals we wanted on speed dial when we asked for them. One of many highlights was a close-by water hole that the camp lit up during dinner hours to provide a near-constant view of the wildlife.

Room tip: The rooms seemed all the same for type, quality, and position.

Thank you the great feedback. Much appreciated!

Alex does do a very good job in finding those animals and we have been getting some great sightings at our waterhole. Yesterday elephants, zebra, and impala joined us at lunchtime!

Hope to see you back here sometime.

Our time at Tortilis was superb in every way. Our accommodations were very comfortable, the food was terrific, the staff and managers (Hi, Graeme and Candy!) were so attentive and solicitous. Our guide, Alex, was knowledgeable and fun to be with on our game drives. I highly recommend Tortilis and would happily return!
