The museum is very interesting architecturaly, there is a fantastic terrace pool, worth seeing in its own right. The major piece of work is huge and visually stunning. Well worth visiting.

Not expecting much as this is a very rural modern art museum. Was impressed with the exhibit, as well as the architecture inside. Well worth the hour or so it takes to go through.

Its a small art museum, but i always liked such places. Means a lot less people, and gives you ample time to walk around the exhibits. Was there in August so you can see the kanto competitions right next to the museum. Also on the 2nd floor of the museum, there is a cafe and they have lovely sofas facing the outside overlooking a nice pool of water. It was lovely to sit and relax there.

The museum, built by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, is truly stunning. It is a very modern building (opened in 2013).The only set back is that the museum is entirely dedicated to one artist that not many will know - Tsuguharu Foujita, a Japanese-French painter who did hang out with the likes of Picasso, Leger and Man Ray in Paris in the 1920s. His huge paintings of Akita winter scenes are nice, but, overall, the museum feels empty. The museum café is a good place to sit down for a tea and enjoy the arcitecture and a nice view.

Don't come here unless you are a big fan of Tsuguharu Foujita. Not much to see. "Event of Akita" is a huge piece mural painted by Foujita in1937 decorate the wall. Also on display are some other paintings (less than 20). However, it is really relaxing to sit on the cafe and look over the water in front of us.
