There is a garden beside the main building. Access costs 50 yen and gives you access to a well maintained garden. Traditional landscaping and well maintained garden are a nice and hidden place to go.

Andered around the site of the old Palace and Castle, which had been destroyed after the Meiji restoration as part of the Japanese modernisation programme. This was definitely worth the detour. Although the castle had been destroyed, the hilltop on which it was built was an impressive and still had some ruins worth looking at. The blossoms on the fruit trees were also rather wonderful, attracting courting couples and their symbiotic photographers. The museum was small and friendly. I was ushered into a back room, to meet an old gentleman who was spending his retirement years making replicas of old Japanese boats. He spent 15 hours a day on this. If this was retirement, I should dread to know what the Japanese considered as

I've been to a couple of events at this museum. It's not big, but it has changing exhibits. My favorite part is the nice little garden which you can enter for just Y50 (or included with museum admission).
