Firm bed, crisp linens, starched kimonos, hot water, friendly staff. But after that everything goes down hill.
Staff is fluent only in Japanese, so it is difficult to communicate anything. Ask for a taxi, they give you your bill. Ask for internet codes, they give you your bill. Ask for breakfast times, they give you your bill.
Quiet, waterfall setting, out of the way place. That also means getting a cab anywhere is a challenge, but when the desk can call a cab, it arrives very quickly.
Beige plastic capsule of a bath belongs on a cruise ship. Basin sink is cracked and chipped – perfect haven for germs! Basin faucet swivels to fill tub. Water intermittently runs to keep toilet tank full.
Cob webs in the corner, worn carpet, peeling wallpaper, threadbare and sagging chairs, desk is covered with tea making and toiletry supplies so as to be unusable as a desk. Plastic doilies have been in place so long that they are stuck to the furniture.
A/C works, but it takes a while, and it is only available in the rooms. The rest of the hotel is warm. Musty odor.
Internet access is available only in the lobby – via a cable – and one computer at a time. Bring your own computer. Forget wireless!
