Very friendly staff, unique experience, kids loved it, highly recommend. Owls. Hawk, cockatiel, feed them, stroke them, hold them.

The "cafe" itself is nice, however, as a huge animal lover, it was really difficult to see these beautiful creatures tethered on a short rope, not able to fly or do anything natural other than sleep & scratch..
1300 yen entrance fee - you get a drink, 1hr in the "cafe", you can hold a bird of your choice for a photo (limits on the birds.. for example, if one bites, or needs a break, they don't allow you to hold that bird), & you get a small owl themed gift before you leave. It's not a cafe as you would normally expect as there's no food, & you only get 1 drink (with 2 small snacks).
There's quite a few different birds in there & the staff speak very good English.
Not my style of animal cafe.

We were greeted by an English speaking friendly staff at the entrance. They briefly explain the rules on handling the owls. Our drinks were served promptly. The facility is clean and owls are well taken care of.

We enjoyed our time there and will definitely return if we return to Nara again.

By accident we saw this cafe on our way to Nara Park and with no doubt we got inside. This was the highlight of our trip. We doesn't want to touch and hold an owl? You pay ¥ 1300 p.p. for an adult at the vending machine where you get a drink, that's your entrance ticket. There are just 3 tables, good, seems like they don't want a lot of visitors at this small cozy cafe, which is understandable. The staff is very friendly and the owls seems in good condition. Some owls get some rest, so no touching and pictures. I really don't understand the bad reviews on this cafe. If people are worried about animal welfare, they shouldn't come in the first place to this cafe. Would recommend it to everyone visiting Nara. Ah and at the end you may roll a dive and win a price. Nice!

Didn't think I would like this but had fun here. Owners and staff were amazing. Owls were so cute. Got some great pictures. Do familiarize yourself with the rules though which I have included in a picture.
