The first impression of the ryokan was not pleasant when we contacted them from the train station asking for help to get a taxi/transport to the ryokan as it was snowing heavily. They could not help and we ended up having to walk in the snow with our luggage. It would have been an easy walk as it was only about 5 min away from the train station. But the slope down to the ryokan made it very challenging with the heavy snow. And when we reached the ryokan, we saw a mini bus parked outside which belonged to the ryokan and could not understand why they did not offer to pick us up.
Aside from the above episode, the stay was good, with huge feasts for breakfast and dinner. They have both indoor and outdoor onsen and also private onsen which one can pay extra for.
I do not recommend the hotel if going up and down slopes is a concern as the only way to access the ryokan is to get through the slope, which is rather steep.More
