I booked this hotel simply because it was the only room I found from booking websites, within Nikko city, on a very busy weekend. Booking was done through Yokoso Japan website, and even as a first-timer the booking process was a breeze.
Anyway ... the hotel turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.
If you take the Tobu bus, get off at Stop 11 (Nikko Tamozawa Goyotei Kinenkoen). Walk westbound (direction toward Chuzenji) for a short while, then you will see a small sign with the hotel's name. Just follow the sign uphill.
Though close to the main road, the hotel is nestled in a quiet area. And not only was the location quiet, so were the patrons. It was fully occupied on our one-night stay, but we hardly heard any sound (except during dinner at the restaurant).
Room was comfortable and warm.
Food was nice and plentiful.
Staff were hospitable - not everyone spoke English, but they did assign English-speaking staff to greet us for check in, brought us to our room, and served us during dinner and breakfast.
Upon check out, we were planning to walk to the bus stop. But the staff offered us the shuttle bus service - it was really much appreciated as the rain was really heavy!
This is a good choice if you wish to stay within Nikko city.More
