We booked through hotwire for the first time. Perhaps they save their worst rooms for people paying a discounted rate! As we entered the room it smelled like plastic. Turns out it was the mattress cover which also made a crunching noise when you moved around on the bed. The room was too warm and we could not get the AC to work despite our two calls to the front desk. We stayed here in December and booked through the hotel directly and this room was definitely a downgrade.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your stay. All 356 guest rooms were fully renovated in 2008 and 2009. At that time we installed a plastic zip cover on all mattress and box springs. The intent was to protect the bed from all types of liquids as well as infestation prevention. The customer should feel comfort in knowing that they are sleeping on the cleanest and most sanitary product possible when staying at the Buffalo Marriott. Have a great day.

This hotel is your meat and potatoes type of hotel. You're getting exactly what you're paying for. There's a lot of gravy too. The rooms are very clean, the location is great (in the middle of everything, right next to the UB campus), there's a resturant in the hotel, the exercise room is vast, the shop isn't unreasonably priced, and despite it's 10 floors, it's pretty quiet. So why didn't I give it 5 stars? The milk provided with these metaphorical meat and potatoes is sour. NO FREE WI-FI! That is preposterous, as is the price they charge for it (9.95 a day, although, depending on where your room is, you can get the neighboring hotel's wifi signal for free). Also, because of the restaurant, there's no free continental breakfast. In all, though, a solid hotel.

Thank you for your posive feedback. Yes, this is a full sevice Marriott property that has its own restaurant which is why a complimentary breakfast is not provided. A Marriott product such as a Fairfield or Courtyard will provide that amenity but may also not have a pool, work out facility, bar, lobby store or Starbucks so each customer must decide what their individual needs may be. Stayed on the evening of the 13th. Checked in late. Process took all of 15 seconds! Booked on the Mariott website for 129.00. Two double beds, Bed was on the "softer" side. Seemed that there was some plastic covering on the bed mattress (did not check). Room was clean. TV was HD and it had all sorts of connections so I imagine if you wanted to hook your computer up to the TV it was possible. Nice if you have children travelling with you.
Checked out early the next morning so could not really comment on any of the facilities.
Again, for me, a clean room. Good heating/air conditionning means its was good. Did notice the "we cleaned here too" sign under the bed. nice touch.

Normally I rate properties based on the condition and cleanliness of the room and property, but in this case the professionalism and courtesy of the staff got my attention. Two instances in particular stood out. The first was when I complimented the buffet cook on a particular dish, she went out of her way to give me the recipe. The second was when we approached a housekeeper who was vacuuming the corridor. As we got closer, she turned off the vacuum cleaner to avoid possibly irratating us with noise, greeted us, then resumed working once we had passed. These are examples of a solid training program expertly implemented by management. As far as the overall condition of the facility, it was recently renovated and has an excellent fitness center with several new machines and dumbells up to 50lbs.
This was my first time at this hotel and based on this experience, I would stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel obviously on a weekend that was way too busy for them to handle. Customer Service was horrible, from check in to restaurant and housekeeping.
we left the hotel and checked into one right across the road. Not a good experience at all!
