Upon arrival we had a very warm welcome from the staff, very friendly and inviting! The service at this lodge was very good, staff were friendly and very helpful and always with a smile! The food here was excellent! The best we had during our stay at the lodge, we wished we had rather had all our meals there instead of other places we gave a go! All round very good stay, would definately recommend it

Nice and quiet place. Lovely outdoor area and deck. Infinity pool definite plus. The food is ok. Breakfast was fair. The sunset boat cruise was relaxing. Rooms have a view of the river. Be careful with the monkeys.

We arrived from Cape Town into Zambia’s international airport and was collected by the hotel transfer we arranged at the time of our booking via the internet with Brenda. The Zambian airport shuts early (as we experienced) however there was enough staff to look after us and our driver (very knowledgeable and attentive) was waiting for us out the front of the small airport.

The David Livingston Hotel (DL) is situated right on the River, 3mks from the township of Livingston and 13-14km from the Zimbabwe boarder. The DL offer free transfers (3/day) to the Boarder. A taxi from Livingston town to the boarder is between $USD4-8 and return $USD5-10.

The rooms are spacious and cool, serviced as requested (Edna, is very efficient). The shower is great/hot and not short of water. The door open into the shower and not out, you’ll endure it.

The breakfast is included in the booking and well worth it. Just ask if you would like your bread toasted. The porridge is made with milk. Eggs come are prepared in all forms from boiled to scrabbled. 3 yoghurts and copious amounts of fresh cut up fruits. The wait staff protect you and your food from any quick hands (monkeys).

Evening meals on site are delicious... I had the chicken wrap one night and the chicken schintzel the second.

Happy hour is at the bar for those that want it on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

The gym on site has 2 running machines, 2 bikes, 1 cross fit, 1 rowing machine, weights and mats when stretching.

A sunset cruise is available - we saw hippos and crocs

Depending on what time if the season you visit Livingstone will determine if you get to swim in the Devils Pool or not. We visited in March, high water season and too dangerous for Devils Pools.

The locals say after the Royal Livinngstone and Avanti hotels who share the same drive way entrance and are side by side, DL is just as good.

I highly recommend for all ages.
If travelling with elderly people (nanna and pop, ask to be on the ground floor).

Enjoy.

My apologies for this very delayed review.
We visited The David Livingstone Safari Lodge from 2 Feb 2018 to 4 Feb 2018. The Lodge is set, overlooking the Zambezi River with stunning views. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived at the Lodge. All staff members were friendly, extremely helpful and caring. It was a home away from home. The receptionist noticed that my daughter had a birthday in 10 days time. He arranged for the Food and Beverage staff to bring her a cake after Dinner on the 2nd night we were there. We went on the sunset cruise on the day we arrived. It was truly an amazing experience with crew members (staff from the Lodge), educating us on various topics from the Birds, to Hippos and Crocodiles, to the various trees and plants growing on the river bank. The canapés served during the cruise were delicious. Breakfasts were scrumptious. The chef also had some special treats for us each morning to cater for our specific dietary requirements. Lunches and Dinners were equally delicious with attention to detail and focus on serving good quality food. Transfers to town and the Vic Falls were arranged, hassle free. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Turn down service in the evenings added an extra touch of luxury. A truly amazing Lodge, with amazing staff and am amazing getaway. Keep up what you guys do and all the best.
