This little museum is in the Main Street of Hoi An, not far from all the tailors and markets. It is on the second floor of a lovely old building. Whilst it isn’t huge, it offers interesting photos and artefacts of the area. Worth a visit.

We bought a book of entry tickets 120,000vnd each at this little museum. You can then go on and use them at the different historical houses. It had the history of the various wars from Hoi Ans perspective. We had been to the Cu Chi tunnels and found it a bit of s sterile experience. Some of the artefacts brought it to life. They also chart the history of Hoi Sn from pre historic times. There is a beautiful photographic exhibition and art exhibition. Worth spending on hour here.

Or to give it its full title "Hoi An Centre for Cultural Heritage, Management and Preservation", nothing like an old fashioned Communist country to come up with a proper title. The collection is divided into three sections: "The exhibition of history and culture", "The exhibition of revolutionary history" and "The exhibition of Hoi An's ascent from hardship" and I guess it comes as no surprise that I was most interested in the ".... revolutionary history", given I was one of those who was eligible for conscription.
The museum and the collection are not in great shape, but the view is extraordinarily local and resonant. And it makes a very fine point about the greatest military power of its time, America, being undone by fierce and determined amateurs, after seeing off the French. I thought the display quite poignant. And the view over Hoi An from the roof is not to be missed. Admission is by ticket only, you buy the tickets from one of the Tourist Information Centres, 5 tickets for 120,000VND, approximately $6AUS. Tickets are required for most of the historical sites listed on the Tourist Information Centre map. On the same day I used tickets to visit the "Museum of Trade Ceramics" and "The Museum of Folklore", the collection in either of which are going to win any awards. But the buildings that house the collections? That's another story: both are old , large domestic buildings which are truly beautiful and definitely worth a close look.

After visiting some attractions that were little more then shops in the old town, this places offers the best value for money when using your old town ticket. Spread over 4 floors, it provides info on the evolution of Hoi An, the conflicts with the French and Americans, an art gallery (contemporary sculptures are also places on every level) and a roof with amazing views over the city. (The designs on the windows are interesting and just damn right quirky too in places.)

If your tired of crowds and want a bit of quiet, this place is a haven of peace. When we visited their were only two other people there!

This museum right in Hoi An town is worth a look, but doesn’t require too much time out of your day. We got there mid morning and there was hardly anyone there.
It’s on three levels , with the top floor a view of the town (only).
There are some interesting items ,pictures , stories and artwork in the museum.
Inside is in need of a renovation with signs that it was busy some time ago.
A few staff were around, one man on security at the door ,another on the first floor (where it starts) with a sign saying tickets, we didn’t have tickets, and we couldn’t buy any from him and he just gestured us through , so not sure on this one.
My tip: Worth a walk around when In the town, take a water with you, there is no where to buy anything inside. Toilets are on the ground floor . All done within 45 Min.
